I need some backspacing help

Im looking to put a 275/60/15 on the back of my Formula, Im also going to order a new set of wheels. Im just not sure how much backspacing to get on them. A set of 15in Cragar steelies with 4in of backspacing and 255/60s stick out a little from the wheel wells. I dont think 4in of backspacing is enough. Can anybody help me out?

Re: I need some backspacing help

that all depends on how wide the wheels are. backspacing is meaningless without also having the wheels width.

Re: I need some backspacing help

I'm sorry. I thought I had that up too. I was planning on ordering a set of 15x8s from Bassett. The Cragars are also 15x8. I read some other threads that said for a 275 tire on a 15x8 rim that a 5in backspace was recommended. Is a 15x8 with 5in of backspace what I should order?

5 would be better with the wider tire, but may still rub a little in the front of the inner fender well, down low. not a big deal. the factory "rear" 16x8's are 5.125 BS.

you should be fine

Re: I need some backspacing help

Thanks man. But I looked at Bassett's website again and they only offer their DOT wheels with up to 4.75in BS. Is that going to be enough? I don't mind if they stick out a little from the wheel wells, but I don't want it to look ridiculous.
