Help with wheel fitment

Hello everyone,

For the last few days I have been searching the forums and ebay for rims, and for fitment information. To start I have a 1987 LT with IROC-Z motor/suspension, with 2" drop and about 1" in the rear.

I know the front offset stock is 0mm, but the back offset one source has told me +16 and the other -16? I am pretty sure it is positive but idk.

Now the rims I have choosen are 18x8.5 rims with a 35mm offset all the way around. Through my calculations for the front I would need 28.65mm of spacing give or take, since I will not find spacers for that exact measurement. (BTW I used the math found in the fitment thread )
^^^^Please if this is not right please correct me....I am not to good at math

Now the back has me a bit perplexed, do I need to compensate for the back as I did the front, or do I just need to make up the difference between the stock offset (+16mm) and the rim offset (35mm)?

Finally for tires are 245/40 R18 too big for the car, or do I need to stick to 245/35 R18. I ask this question because my car is my daily driver and I don't want to damage the rims or the car due to low profile tires. Would I be okay with /35s on a DD?

Thanks everyone for the help!
Best Regards,
Cat

Re: Help with wheel fitment

Up front, you could use either 1.25 or preferably 1.5" spacers, like from EZaccessory. In the rear, same deal.
See, 9s with zero offset fits fine all around. You having 8.5s just means you need 35 mm spacers. But your choices are 32 or 38. So, do you like the tucked look? I prefer the out flush look.
I'd definitely choose 40 series tires over 35 series, because a 245/40R18 is the same diameter as a 245/50R16, which our cars came with, and that's already a bit short for our large wheelwells.
