What's the deal with diamond backs?

hey I got a question for everyone. Are diamond back tires any good? I found a really really good deal on a full set of diamond back tires but I don't want to buy 'em if they're just gonna fall apart on me. I don't have the money to have to replace them again in two months.

Never heard of them. Got a Tirerack link to them or on the manufacturers website?

That's the link to the manufacturers website, I can't find 'em on tire rack. I bought my camaro at the end of my last school semester and there's a few other things I like to be able to fix when I get my financial aid so I'm really trying to find good tires as dirt cheap as possible.

Re: What's the deal with diamond backs?

Hadn't planned on it but I can't really pass up the deal, I can get a full new set for less than the price of a single tire. I can't afford $500 for new tires right now, it's either do this or replace 'em 2 at a time and hope like hell I don't blow one of the old ones. I'd rather look strange than have to worry about blowing a tire driving to school every morning with the road construction.

If only 1 side has the whitewall, I'd get that side mounted to the inside.

As far as price goes, what size you need? You should get able to buy all 4 with warranty & shipped for under $450 from Tirerack, maybe close to $400.

215/65/15
I've looked into having 'em shipped but then I have to pay to have them mounted and it winds up being way more then my tiny budget can afford. Not only does it need new tires as soon as I get paid for school but my insurance and reg are due at the same time (not to mention the school books that cost waaay too much).

Re: What's the deal with diamond backs?

none of the walmarts in my area carry tires in my size, I'm getting a full set for 25 more than that, even if they are white walls, then I just take the car across the street and get 'em mounted.

Re: What's the deal with diamond backs?

diamond backs are not a performance tyre and leave are not brilliant in the wet with a bith of left foot uncontrolled. However they are quiet and seem to wear ok as long as your front end is in good nick. I run them on all my cars here in Oz.

Re: What's the deal with diamond backs?

if your local walmart doesnt have taht size tire they should be able to order some in. i wouldnt run whitewall tires on a thirdgen. not even if the white was in. tirerack.com, treaddepot.com all offer 215/65/15 for fairly good prices

Re: What's the deal with diamond backs?

I really wanna say if you cant afford a full set. get two new one's for the front and put two used tires from your local used tire shop on the rear. then when you can afford to put new ones on the rear do that. IMO.

Re: What's the deal with diamond backs?

I looked into doing something like that, it'll cost me $378 out the door at walmart and none of the local used tire places have the right size or more than one. I tried to just replace the really bad one with a used and the only tire the guy had was in worse shape then the one on the car. I'm going to look at the whitewalls myself this afternoon and at worst they're a hold over so I can replace 'em with brand new tires at a slower pace. I don't know if you've been up highway 99 from yuba city to chico lately but it's in nasty shape, my tires have to be able to hold up to that while I save up for better ones.
