tire preasure question...

i have 2 different tires in the back, different brands....there both new...well i bought them new...and both are the same size...245/50/16...one says 51 psi and the other is like 31 psi...since there both the same size, should i put the same amount of air on both? or one has to have more then the other??

I would just run 35 to 38 PSI and call it a day.

Re: tire preasure question...

The side wall reading is the max pressure, not the ideal pressure. For example, IIRC, the max pressure on my tires is 41. The door placard calls for 32.

Re: tire preasure question...

My tire placard is long gone. I have a 1984 Firebird SE, 2.8L. Is 32 psi standard tire pressure with these cars?

James,
Mine has 14" wheels. Should I go below? The max tire pressure on the wheels is 35psi, but I read you should always go with the pressure on the placard.

Re: tire preasure question...

My Kumho 245/50/16's also says 51 psi max pressure, but I keep them at 32 psi and it seems plenty enough air.

51 psi would be like riding on concrete tires.

For the best ride comfort and tire wear on a DD, I'd go with the recommended pressure.
