AutoX STU class tire options
So I'm racing my '91 Z28 in autocross (solo) In the Street Touring Ultra class with SCCA. in STU I'm limited to a 285mm wide tire with a minimum of 200 tread wear and wheel size in unlimited. Right now I'm using a set of 17x9 '01 SS wheels with 285/40/17 Nitto NT555's. They're a decent street tire but have a 300 treadwear and I don't feel that I can be competitive enough with these. The front tires are new but the rear tires are pretty well seasoned and should be replaced soon. I don't want to run this tire anymore.
Does anyone else that races in this class have any good recommendations as far as what tire brand/model I should switch to? I may consider stepping up to 18's and possibly a 10" or 11" wide wheel too.

Re: AutoX STU class tire options
I really like the GoodYear Eagle F1 tires but have never tried the Nittos so I cant give a fair comparison. I actually have heard good things about the Nitto 555 and figured they were comparable to the F1. The F1 has a 280 rating and is available in a 285 if it helps.
Re: AutoX STU class tire options
The Dunlop Direzza Star spec is supposed to be a very good tire and has a treadware rating of 200. I personally run the Nitto Nt-01's on my track car, but I just checked and they are a tread wear rating of 100. (those would have been my recommendation as I love them) I have heard real good things about the Dunlops though...maybe check em out
