Rim and tire size combination - Help needed

I dont know much about rim and tire dimensions, i have general knowledge but im still learning, so i appreciate all help.

I have some 17x9 ZR1 rims w/o tires i bought. I found a guy that has 17' tires for a reasonable price, but im not sure if they are wide enough.

The sizes he have are 245, 45, r17 and 215, 55, r17. I was going to put the 245's in the rear, but im not sure if the tires are wide enough.

If not, what range of sizes do i need to look for?

I'm not too keen on a 275 width tire on a 9" wide wheel, but GM did it for the 4th gens factory OEM.

You can run a 245, 255, or 265 width on a 9" wheel with confidence. 215 is too narrow and will look "stretched" on a 9" wheel.

Agreed. Plus it might not even be possible to get the 215s mounted.

Re: Rim and tire size combination - Help needed

Sorry for the late response, i have been trying to get things straight with the rims, painting them, and tires. I chose tire sizes, fronts are 235-40-17 and rear are 245-45-17. I wanted a slight staggered look, but nothing huge and dramatic. I am in the middle of painting the rims now, they will be gloss black with a polished lip.

As ive said, i know very little about whel fitament, im definetly still learning.

Do I need Spacers or Adaptors to get these wheels to fit? Ive heard both terms used, so im a bit confused. I thought i needed adaptors.

If i need adaptors, what size? 2in? Or 1 1/2? I think i read somewhere that with a stock 3rd gen rear (like mine) you can use a 1 1/2? Id like the tires to stick out a little, but not anything more than an inch at the max.
