Spacer question

Since I am not home to do measurements I am completely dependent on the net and you guys for all my car questions. So here goes.

I know that the backspacing on standard wheel for the 86 Z28 I own is 4.5".
Well In light of that I want to buy these rims:
http://www.oewheelsllc.com/Wheels_3/...-Camaro_4/C6_3
Which have a 7.38 backspacing, so which size spacers will I need??

Note: Stock brakes still on car, if that matters.

Re: Spacer question

Look up a matching offset on this chart & you'll find what you need.

Re: Spacer question

Awesome, thanks bro.
So this says 2.38" adapter for front and 1.53" for the rear assuming the maximum backspace for the 89 is the same as the 86. In light of this fact I am guessing I should get 2" spacers for the front and 2.5" spacers for the rear?

Re: Spacer question

I didn't? Unless I am overlooking something I just used the equation thing they give you on there and did the math.

Rim Backspacing - Max Backspacing = Adapter Thickness

Re: Spacer question

If you scroll down to the chart you will see why I asked, since the #s you provided are already very close to what is on the chart.

And you said that it says "2.38" adapter for front and 1.53"" yet you came up with different #s?

Re: Spacer question

Yeah I figured I had to match them as close as possible and 2"/2.5" are the closest matches. I will look again at the chart but I didn't see a 17x9.5 C6 wheel listed.

Re: Spacer question

The closest match I found is
Corvette ZR1 style (High Offset) 17x9.5 56mm offset 7.4" backspacing 2.25" adapter

Re: Spacer question

hehe.....And to think that I HATE using spacers & "FWD" looking wheels. Yes. I consider the C5+ Vette wheels as FWD-style, because of their lack of a dish.

I prefer spending the $ on wheels + $ on spacers, all on just the wheels. And wheels with a dish like, IMHOP, all rear wheel drive cars should have on them.

BTW....If you put in a 98+ rear end you'll get bigger better brakes, a better posi/limited slip (if you even have a 10-bolt with one now, unless you have a 9-bolt then opinions vary on which is better), maybe better gears depending on what you have now & won't speed spacers on the rear.

Re: Spacer question

I'll have to remember that about the newer rear. I have a 10 bolt posi in it right now with 3.42 gears, but drum brakes. I can't aford the rear right now, but that sounds like a good idea -especially with 500 FP of torque going through it. It ain't going to last long when I get the big gooie tires on it.
Thanks for your help!
