Wheel adapters with abuse?
Wondering if anyone has actually ran a 2 inch adapter and abused them on autocross events? I want to go with some 17x9.5 c6 style zo6 wheels, for daily driving, I may do front and rear, unless I find a 4th gen rear for a deal. I plan on black steel 17s for autocross events, but had to know if anyone has abused the adapters on a cornering situation.
I had a friend run them on the back of a 500 rwhp car, 2", 3rd gen rear width on a 4th gen with 4th gen wheels, beat the hell out of them but that was straight line abuse, on the street with traction limited. No hard cornering.
A good set I imagine would work well, but never know when something might give up like that pulling over .9 Gs or more.

I believe the member Zepher had run vette wheels when he autocrossed. Pretty sure he used adapters, but I would research some of his posts.

Re: Wheel adapters with abuse?
Its very common. Most people would reccomend changing the studs out to good quality arp ones. Offhand, Pablo uses adapters on his car to use vette offset ccw wheels, 17x11 and 17x12 with slicks on the road course, as does Bigmods with with 18x10.5 vette wheels and slicks again in his track car. There are quite a few more.
So yes, they willl be fine, just use high quality parts and torque everything properly and often
