Question about running smaller tires
So I have Corvette Wheels off of a 2004 Corvette c5 on my 1992 Camaro z28. The rear rubs on big bumps. I lowered about 1.5" on the tokico spring and strut combo deal back over the summer. So the tires are 275/40/r18 the run flats that I got with the wheels. Well they are torn up now from all the tire rubbing on bumps. Originally I was rubbing on the insides on bumps till I put a 1/2" spacers. Oh BTW I have a 4th gen rear. So should I just run a 265/35/18 rear instead of the size currently on there? Plus I found it really hard to roll this damn fender because the damn body is so strong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Question about running smaller tires
Where on the inside are u rubbing? Can you just hammer the wheel well for a bit more clearance? My 92 is lowered with 295/35/18 rears and they never rub over a bump.

Re: Question about running smaller tires
I know, but if you remove the 1/2 spacer you added, and do a little hammering the problem would be solved right?
As for rolling the fender, are u using the rolling tool or a wooden bat? Both work, but take some time and patience. Heating the paint a bit will help prevent chipping

Re: Question about running smaller tires
Pretty easy. The trouble spot is down low in the front of the wheel well, just above the control arm. If it bwas rubbing, you will see the marks in the undercoating. You need a small sladge hammer, 2 or 3 lb, and just bang away and work your way around the area evenly. You can use a block of wood and hit that with the hammer to prevent maring up the sheetmetal as much, then shoot some more uncercoating over that area. If you take your time, you can make it look like the work was never done.
