8 or 10 inch wide rear drag wheel
8 or 10 inch wide rear drag wheel
So I'm going to be getting a set of 15" rear wheels to mount some Hoosier drag radials to for track use only.
If I go with a 10" wide wheel, I'll go with a 5.5" backspace. If I go 8", I'll go with a 4.5" backspace. My current suspension setup is a Spohn torque arm, Spohn lower control arms, and relocation brackets.
My question is, is wider always better, assuming they will both fit?
Are there advantages, other than cost, of going with an 8 inch wheel over a 10 inch?
Thanks in advance!

8" will be a tad lighter. Not enough to really even consider.
10" will allow more room for a tire's tread section.
It just depends on your tire and if it's recommended for a 8" or 10" rim.

Heres some 28x10 hoosiers on my Camaro. Too much tire for my car but I got a deal on them. Its tight in the fender well. I have 15" rims with 4.5 back spacing on 8 inch wide rims.

For the research I've done I think a 15x9 with a 5.5 backspace is perfect. Odd ball size but they make the RT-S in that size.
