Little help on adapter size

so ive gone through the stickies, the skulte FAQ thats still up, and im still a little confused.

i have a set of 18 x 9.5" wheels with a 1" lip and a 54mm offset. makes zero sense to me to ADD the lip to the backspacing.

Rim Width / 2 = Centerline
Centerline + Offset + Rim Lip = Backspacing

as you can tell.. the .gif doesnt include the lip in backspace measurement
so.. according to that (im going to have everything in metric):

Centerline: 120.65
Offset: 54
Lip: 25.4

so... 120.65 + 54 + 25.4 = 200.05 which is 7.87" of backspacing. that would mean an almost 3" adapter. that doesnt seem right.

after all that.. my physical measurement of the backspacing yields jsut under 190.5. so.. wtf, over.

from just a regular measurement.. i need a 2.5 inch adapter. if i subtract the 7.93 of the rotor width.. i get 2.19" adapter required (im using a kore3 hub and Camaro SS rotor).

Re: Little help on adapter size

All you did was let the lip confuse the offset, which at 54mm needs either a 2.25" spacer to sit flush, 2.5" or larger will tuck it in a bit more.

i copied what the website said. thats why i am/was confused. wouldnt the larger spacer push the wheel out more? ..and i thought i was the one who was confused. (just messin with ya)

im trying to come up with a spacer that will clear everything well enough and not be pushed out past the fenders.

Re: Little help on adapter size

2" to 2.25" will put you pretty much flush on the front. 2.5" or bigger will push the wheels out of the fenders. Most seem to run 2" on all four corners for a wheel with that width & offset. I have chosen to run the 2.25" spacers in front and 2" in rear with 17 x 9.5 wheels w/54 mm offset (C4 ZR1 style). This is paired with 275/40R17 BFG's. My goal was the same as yours.

I bought the C6 replica wheels from OEwhells.com and I used 2" spacers all the way around ... U will also need to get some ARP wheel studs that are about .5" longer so u can get enough threads engaged on the lug nuts and it's cheap insurance ... Wouldn't want a wheel flyin off at 100+ would we

From the specs posted, they do look to have that BS, which is typically a 4th gen wheel.

i just want to make sure i get the right adapter. is 2" going to be ok do you think? it would put me a half inch off the original bs..

It's time to get out the ruler and take some measurements. Why trust someone on the internet? Make sure you get the fitment you like.

it will be ok... a search would have netted this info in no time. this is an EXTREMELY popular setup, one that people have run using all the sizes listed above with no issues

sometimes there are people with a similar wheel or someone who's been down the same road. the searches gave inconclusive results as well so..
