Cheapest 17"x9-9.5" Wheels?

This is where I'm at: I have been browsing mutliple sites looking for 17" wheels so that I can fit a 275 tire on my car.
1. What is the bolt pattern on our cars?
2. Is 9" or 9.5" width required to fit a 275 tire?
3. What is the cheapest 17" wheel that I can get?! I'm at the point where I don't even care how it looks, I just can't take the 245-50-16 tire selection anymore and want some more rubber on the road! Everything I find is either a) Ridiculously expensive or b) 8" wide or c) a bolt pattern which apparently won't work on my car. Now I know you're thinking "If you want good wheels and tires, you're going to have to fork out the cash." Yes, I know. The tires will NOT be skimped on. I'm just looking for some decently affordable 17" wheels that can fit wider tires.

Probably some type of corvette replica wheel would be one of the cheaper routes. Maybe OEwheels llc? they have a pretty good selection

Cheapest 17"x9-9.5" Wheels?-image-4057363531.jpg

Here's the ones I got from OE wheels llc .... I caught em on sale last year for 360$ a set brand new plus 80$ shipping ....they have several styles and are offered in several different diameters and widths ... But to run corvette or 4th gen wheels u have to run 2" wheel spacers

Re: Cheapest 17"x9-9.5" Wheels?

Bolt parrtern is usually listed in inches for our cars. 5x4.75"

the racestar wheels were on sale recently, several guys here bought them.
A 275 will fit a 9" wheel or a 9.5" wheel.

corvette wheels may be found cheap, but you'll spend another $200 for adapters, due to the backspacing.

If I were to run spacers again, they would have to be hub centric.

Re: Cheapest 17"x9-9.5" Wheels?

i think the best way to go about this is to get a budget from the OP and then go from there. craigslist is obv the best place to find deals but its hit or miss with what you can find. without proper knowledge of the item and what you actually need the "deal" can be a wash

There is a gp of Ronal R15 knockoffs going on now, but I wouldn't call them the "cheapest." 17 x 9.5. Original equipment on the Firehawk.

Re: Cheapest 17"x9-9.5" Wheels?

Be cautious I bought a set from eBay when I got my wheels they were about the same price as those and they look nice but when I installed them I had a vibration so I took it to the front end shop and they had to use a lot of weight and still had a little vibration so I spent $300 with shipping and got a set from Colorado custom and they are great

The cheapest would probably be the Crager Soft 8.

If you are talking about buying used, I agree! That is why I just bought a set of Ronal knock-offs from Classic Industries. I had a few questions about the correct lug nuts and Ray at CI was on it in no time. Great customer service!

The wait has been measured in years! Go to the Southern California forum or the Classic Industries web site. $299.99 each plus lug nuts, spacers if you need them and decals for the center cap.

I found your thread,

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/sout...ck-off-gp.html

But I still don't see a Group Purchase. GP's usually mean discount. I see no discount.

Cragar 17x9 Soft 8's probably. They're so heavy, though.

They dont look bad on these cars.

The only others close are the 17x8.5/18x9.5 C5 wagon wheels, and 17x9 or 17x9.5 ZR1 wheels. The ZR1 wheels can be had for ~$60-$100 a wheel usually. You'll need to add $40-$100 a wheel for adapters, though.

For that price you should at least look at CTW wheels. They are affordable, strong, safe, and I think they give these cars a super cool european flair to them.

Funny you mentioned these and then the CTW Motorsports wheels in the next post...

That is is a Chumpcar we have a set of wheels on - he previously had the soft 8s in 8" width. All he did was change the wheels (keeping the same 245 width Dunlop Dirrezzas) and the car picked up about 3 seconds a lap on the road course. There was a 55lb reduction in rotating weight and the sidewall had much more stability as the wheel is 1.5" wider. Feedback was the handling and turn in were razor sharp and the car felt like it picked up 25hp (55lbs of rotating weight will do that). This is an extreme case though - not too many people have 34lb wheels on their 3rd gen.

I want everyone to understand this as something to optimize your cars - you want the widest wheel and tire (but not too much tire on a given wheel) and the lightest weight (within your budget) combo within reason. Exotic car guys spend thousands to save a few pounds on their wheels - CF wheels are $15k a set, save 20 to 35lbs, and are extremely fragile.

A set of cheap ZR1 9.5" wheels with spacer might push 28lbs (guesstimate?), but going for a 20 or 22lb wheel will have the effect of adding another 5 to 15hp due to less rotating weight.

Did a search and the best I can do is point you to this message board, "interest in Ronal R15 group order." Note that the thread is from 2011. Iirc the list price is a bit higher than the selling price.

List price is usually just an arbitrary number - few items have an "official list price". Case in point, I sell Chemical Guys detailing products - they have a different list price on their website for items than comes in my pricing sheets - it can be anything, just not lower than the MAP prices...

Unsurprising. If you read that post about the gp it apparently was not the first attempt. A prior effort at a gp fell apart. A lot of members expressed an interest, but when it came time to step up few came through
