Twice in a row, I've lost all my front wheel weights at the track (road course). I had the tire shop clean the inside of the wheel with alcohol and I used duct tape over the weights but I'm still melting the glue. Any tips?

This may be a bit naive, as I don't know much about road course, but couldn't you just use clip on weights? They can be mounted on the inside of the wheel if you are worried about scratching up the part of the wheel that is visible.

Clip on weights may not be a good option for alloy wheels, where the lead in the weights may react with the alloy.

Try cleaning the surface with something rough like a por scourer, then wiping it down with Prepsol a couple of time.

Maybe heat is causing the adhesive to fail.

We use that aluminum HVAC tape on the panoz road race car and a lot of street cars.

+3 - The answer is the aluminum tape on a clean surface.
