2015 z28 rims??

I have the opportunity to pick some up but I don't think that this will be a easy fit on my 88' Iroc-Z. Does anyone know what type of work would have to be done to make this fit?

They're 19's, people have fit 20's before on these cars. I imagine it's all in getting the right spacer.

Re: 2015 z28 rims??

yeah but the width and offset is whats important, my 20" ZL1 wheel didn't fit under my front fender with 2" spacers. way too wide. but ive seen people run the 5th gen SS 20's before

Assuming from your tire size you have 19x8" wheels. the new Z28 wheels are 11" wide 305/30R19. those tires are about 3/4" taller than our stock tires.

Yea I'm worried about the width of the 11.5's out back and the 11's in front.

Well, I can't say how wide of spacer you'll need but 11" wide on the front has been done many times. Not sure if there are any tricks to it, that is something you'll have to research. A lot of guys on FRRAX have done it. With a 19" wheel it will be easier because it will clear the steering knuckle and should give a little more clearance by the strut. I'm more curious to see if the 305/30r19 will turn in the wheel well. According to tire rack that size is 26.3" in diameter. Our stock tires are 25.7 and on my car come very close to touching when turning.

I would research their backspacing and then go out, pull both front wheels and start measuring. Make sure you support the A-arms so you measurements will be as if the car was on the ground. You should be able to get a close estimate on how wide of spacer you'll need. If its around 2" or so then you'd probably be safe to get the rims, get more accurate measurements, and order the right spacers.

Probably should measure the rear too. Support the axle. If the distance there is to much you could try a 4th gen rear end (4" wider), then add spacers to that if needed. But check the front first.

Another option is you can buy them, give them to me, I'll fit them on my car and in return I'll tell you what it takes to fit them.

Re: 2015 z28 rims??

Sat in one just like that in my local dealership....(minus the indy decals of course). Looks fantastic, but honestly, feels cheap when I'm in it. For just a few thousand more one could have the new Z06. actually, I think the difference is 3,000. (75k vs 78k)

I love the 5th gens, but I think chevrolet went wayyy past the ideal price point on them.

For 75k you can out run 911s, GTRs, and all sorts of high end sports cars that cost way more.

Oh, I don't doubt it's performance at all. All I was getting as was that for 75k I'd like to feel like I was riding in a 75k car.

Re: 2015 z28 rims??

Having a 305 tire all around is going to give you a boatload of grip - assuming you can fit them correctly.

The only issue I can think of is the weight - a 305-30-19 tire on a 11" wheel is going to be heavy - your dampers better be up to the task.
