Re: 295-55-15 et streets

How wide are the rear wheels ?
What is the BS of the rear wheels ?
Heres the tire. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mtt-3755r/overview/
It has a diameter of 27.80in. and the section width is 12in.
That's a big tire and if your BS is not what it needs to be it will stick out the sides. = fender well flair cutting into the top of the tire.

back wheels are 15x8 prostars from weld. i gotta check but either 5.5 or 6inch back spacing. i just bought the wheels from a guy whom had them on a 72 nova. my car has coilovers on the back and a currie ford 9inch if this matters.

Re: 295-55-15 et streets

295 is a little wide for a 8in wheel but has been done.
I cant tell you if they will fit under the well and also not rub the inside but those BS figurers you gave should be close.
Its very hard to tell some one they will fit without trying it yourself.
Maybe some one that has actually done it will jump in.

Re: 295-55-15 et streets

I was going to ask this in a thread of my own however....can someone steer to me some pictures of a 28" tall tire on our cars? I may pick up some MT 3794R Radial II's. They're a 28 X 11.5-16 and are spec'd for a 8-10" rim (I have IROC 16s).
I'd like to know what they might look like. MT uses a 9.5" measuring rim to get a 12.1" section width so it'll be somewhat narrower with my 8's.
Measuring my rear IROC rims, the distance from the mounting flange to the inboard edge of the rim is just slightly more than 5".
These Radial II's are more or less exactly the same dimensions as the OP's.

I'll have the measure the clearances with my 5" back space IROC's and the 26 x 10.5 ET Streets and see what kind of room there is. Work it out from there.

Intrax 2" lowering springs (although I can't say if it's really a 2" dropover stock), drag bags. Monroe Sensatrac shocks. MT 26 x 11.5-16 ET Streets.
The first pics is with 10 psi in the bags, the 2nd with 4psi. Profile shot is the typical 4 psi ride height.
Orr, Night, what's the back spacing on your rims?

The internet seems to agree with you. 4.5" backspacing.
Mine being 5" would give me a little more room to outside which I think would be a benefit when I'm cruising. Especially with the slightly wider tire.

I wish I had a 10" rim...
One option I'm considering is having my stock IROC widened about 1.5". If I use a front rim, with the slightly shallower backspacing, I could effectively fit a 9.5" rim in the stock wheel house with no mods (I think). To me that would look a little better with a 295 tire. I'm looking to keep the stock rim. It was mentioned to me the other day that mine is a "sleeper". Something I appreciate and will try to maintain. Cowl hood notwithstanding.

Re: 295-55-15 et streets

275/60 on an 8" can work fine and should hook just about anything if car is setup right

I just went 295 as i wanted as wide a tire i could fit short of a minitub and also that everyone else was running 275's. I wanted to be different.

I'm looking at the 28 X 11.5-16 tire. Not sure of the metric measurement however I think they're a 295. MT's website says the spec rims are 8-10".

The setup is key and that's something that I don't have. No drag shocks here. Just air bags ans LCA relocation brackets. Street suspension and that's the way I'd like to keep it...for now anyway.

Orr89 you got any specs on the rear wheels and did you have to do any grinding/hammering on the inside?
