Possible to re-offset a wheel?
Not sure what the correct term is, but is it possible for a shop to re-machine an existing wheel to have a custom offset? Case in point, can you take a 4th gen SS wheel and have a shop move the spokes/offset to where you eliminate the use of spacers?
I know a buddy of mine had a shop widen an existing set of wheels for him, so I know it's possible to some extent.
Not sure if there are shops that can do this, and if so what the cost would be to do it. Or if a shop could make a custom set of wheels with a user specified offset.
Excuse the ignorance, but not sure if it's offset or backspacing I'm talking about here.

It is probably possible with steel wheels - welds are easier and are stronger than with cast aluminum like the wheels you mentioned.
But keep in mind that wheel barrels are not the same diameter from front to back - it can vary by a lot. This makes it unlikely that in most cases it will be possible to change offsets as you would be missing material to weld everything up with.

Find the thread on here where a member had a set made; I think they were 18" wheels closely matching some third gen stock wheels and he may have gone through Boyds. It'll give you an idea of time and expense. 4th gen wheels modified to that extent would be at a cost level where you might prefer to buy something you really liked with some advantages over a stock look 16" or 17".
