4th Gen Seat Upgrade

My stock cloth seats have been needed to be replaced for a while now. I was able to find some black leather 4th Gens over the winter for $400. The drivers is power, so I wired that in, cleaned the carpet, and installed the seats. Pretty happy with how they came out.

How much higher up do you sit with the power seat?

Re: 4th Gen Seat Upgrade

I don't sit any higher up, but if I did want to I could raise it way up. Probably a good 3 inches I would guess.

Re: 4th Gen Seat Upgrade

They definitely make the interior look and feel a lot different, and cleaner. Only downside to camaro seats vs firebird is that I can't install shoulder harnesses if I needed them.

Re: 4th Gen Seat Upgrade

Those look nice, I'm thinking of doing this too, there is a set close to me. I have black gta seats now (need some repairs), any mods to do if I make the switch?

Thanks, Gary.

Re: 4th Gen Seat Upgrade

It really is that easy. The only extra I did was wire the drivers seat for power.

Where did you pull the power source from? Looks good.

I bought an "add-a-fuse" kit and plugged it into the fuse panel. I used a key-on source closest to the drivers side fender to make it as clean as I could. I then grounded to the seat mounting post. The wiring came out pretty clean.

Re: 4th Gen Seat Upgrade

There should be a power source in the carpet under the driver side seat. From what I read every F-body came with the power connector wired up regardless if the car was optioned for power seats or not.

That's good to know. I didn't see any but wasn't really looking as well. I had read a lot of people getting power from the window switches.

I could be wrong, but check for a slit in the carpet under the seat and try and find a power connector. Pretty sure they all have one, but don't beat me up if I'm wrong haha

Re: 4th Gen Seat Upgrade

It is a good thing to look for whether it's there or not. Mine is all wired, so I won't go looking. For another member though, check it out!

Re: 4th Gen Seat Upgrade

The 4th gens may have the power whether they had power seats or not, but third gens only had the power if the car came with that option.
