Just picked this up

So I just picked up a 1987 IROC Z, great shape but atleast needs the original rims and louvres, if anyone knows a place to get date coded original wheels that would be amazing. This car has only 3998 original miles. And I would like to keep everything as original as possible/

Wow, nice find! But why is it missing so much stuff? Wheels, mirrors, spoiler, emblems, etc.

Re: Just picked this up

It's all with the car minus the items I mentioned, it was a stolen recovery back in 90 when my parents owned the vehicle, has been in a barn ever since. The lovers and wheels were stolen along with the electronic review.the fender was also replaced because the people who stole it jacked it up there. They also scratched "black power" into the passenger side, which has since been painted over. Aside from that everything else is basically mint

I would start with mold remediation!

Cool low mile car, but get ready for a whole list of things that will fail!

Re: Just picked this up

I am located in Western NY, the plans with the car are to get her back to showroom, want to keep it original as possible. There is no visible mold that I could see, the inside smells fine, and cleaned up great, not that there was much to clean up. The only real damage from sitting was the matting under the hood got chewed up, but as far as I can see all the wiring and vaccume lines etc look good. Will be replacing all the fluids and filters soon, as well as draining the gas tank. Just teying to piece her back together again. I won't be able to work on it often because it is at my fathers house and Iam stationed on the other side of the country. But figured I will get the parts and have them ready for when I do go home.

Re: Just picked this up

Been a While since posted, but havebt had much time to mess with the cR, active duty military stationed no where near home which is where the car is. But since the post we have found a set of original rims, still trying to track down some Rear window louvres. Hopefully going to start making some headway when I go back on leave here soon. If anyone happens to know of a set of original louvrs please let me know!
