Not likely, they are made by Forgeline and are multipiece, 2 or 3 not sure, so they will probably be $1000 or more, each.

 

Did I miss something about the Firehawk wheel? They've been selling for less than $1000 per set, not per wheel for many years now.

I wonder why the 88-90 irocs are up for pre-order, but the 85-87 are not?

 

So I just re-read this whole thread. Do they not have the 85-87 in 17x9.5? I see a listing for an 18x8, but wouldn't a 17x9.5 have more contact area? Speaking from my personal experience, just a 17x9.5 with a 275 is a huge improvement over the 16x8. I agree that to some only running a 17 nowadays may seem a little "dated", but my personal preference is a more period correct look. I'm still on the fence about the look of the black ZR1's on my car, so I may be in the market for something different next year.

 

This might be old news to some however Continental/General has released a 245/50/16 that has had better reviews than the BFG Comp 2. So there's still some support for the 16.

That's a good question. It seems to me that I've put the front offset on the rear with no issues.

Agreed. I suppose what I should've said (but didn't) is that if there were more wider 16" options, I'd widen my stock wheels. Toyo makes a drag radial at....I think 275/45/16...which is about a stock 26" give or take. ...if that were a popular size, I'd widen my stock 16" wheels.

 

Just wondering...considering the 17x9 IROC wheels to replace the 15 inch IROC wheels currently on my '88...

What tire sizes would I be looking at to come close to the OEM size?

Will the fitment allow the wheel to be mounted up front in a Thirdgen? Will it use the fourthgen/corvette offset and require adapters?

So they would use an offset similar to the 91/92 Camaro wheels where the rears are one spec and the fronts are another or they would use an offset similar to the fourthgen wheels and we would need a front adapter/spacer?

Regardless, I'm really interested in an 18, especially this one that looks just as good as the IROC style and doesn't look out of place on an 80's car or too modern.

 

Those 18" 'Hawk wheels sound awesome, however I'm waiting on those gold 88-90 Irocs!!!!

 

Would these fit similar to how the wheels on Moe Dirt fit? Would inner fender liners need to be removed/altered?

Is there any interest in making a 17x9 version the 15x7 Camaro Z28/RS wheel? I always loved that design. Hell, I would be interested in bringing back the SLP thirdgen specific ZR1 wheel, but with at least 9" width.

 

Check out the HRE - G code wheel.It's supposedly based off the Iroc wheel, but I think it looks more like that 15" Z wheel you're talking about. Bad azz wheel. Think they start at close to $2000 a wheel!!!!!!!!

 

I just want to say THANK YOU! for acknowledging the difference between 85-87 and 88-90 Iroc rims. It drove me insane that I could not purchase the correct rim for my 88 in aftermarket sizes.

 

Amen to that! The 85-87 is the smart move with regard to hitting the biggest target market, but for those of us wanting the 88-90, it's been a long time coming!

Yes sir we are prob 6 months out to having product on the shelf , we are tweaking a few things with this wheel before we move off to cast production samples .

The 6 month wait was/is for the Firehawk 18" replica. Another replica that Hawk's is working on. ....the 17"x9" Iroc, to my understanding, will be available pretty much anytime now. I think they were saying mid October. Hey Hawk's! -I'm still holding out for Gold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMK.

Hold out or run the originals. IMO its difficult to find wheels in a modern size that don't look out of place on these cars. There are a few wheel styles. I'm going to wait patiently for Bruce's company to start selling the 18x10 Firehawk wheels. Then I'll be further interested in seeing them on a thirdgen and show the clearances between the wheel/rim and the strut, wheel well and A-arm. An 18x10 that clears everything and looks era appropriate will be killer.

 

Does such a thing exist in any style? Or any 10" width for that matter? While I haven't looked into it in any great depth it seems to be there's always some compromise or clearancing needed to get that width in there front and back.

 

I know that there are two threads that talked about a production 18"x10" wheel that fit. Another thread by I thought 87IROC350 where he had custom wheels made and he gave the exact dimensions.

 

Seems to me I had read about a 10" rim with the right backspace/offset that fit with out modification.
I'd often thought about taking an OEM early IROC front rim and adding 1.5-2.0" inboard. It's been done and posted here (although I don't recall if a front rim was used). The deal breaker though is the lack of wider tire options on the 16" platform.

 

You're best options are to either:
1. Stay stock and wait
2. Pick up Ronal R15 reps (17x9.5) or GTA reps (17x9) from Hawks and run those. Once the 17x9 IROCs arrive, sell one set of wheels and simply swap tires.

Be warned that you may no longer want the IROC reps, as the GTA rims look great.

I couldn’t wait so picked up an oem set of 16x8 iroc to refinish for $200. No curb rash but quite a bit of cleanup/prep. I figure I’ll soda blast and paint. Anyone have a link to the oem silver and gray in rattle can?
