Wheels and TiresNeed help with wheels or tires? Got fitment issues? Have questions about tire performance and handling? Ask all of those questions here!
Thanks! So you're running the spacers from Hawks I assume.
No, I didn't use the spacers. The C4HD conversion pushes out my wheels by just over a half an inch, so my clearance was fine. (Turned down 1LE hub and rotor thickness)
Latest update on the GOLD Irocs.... maybe by the end of the month....
At this point you'd be better off buying a plain set and painting them yourself.
I'm very interested in the 18x9.5 Firehawks but the way these gold IROCs are going is making me think it could be a very long time before they are selling them.

It's funny you say that because the thought crossed my mind also.
Basically, their product may be fine, but they are TERRIBLE at guestimating availability times. It's been two months, six more weeks, one more month, now three weeks. They are about as good at guessing as a meteorologist!
On the Firehawks, whenever they say they are coming, add 6-9 months. Basically, you could have a whole new kid while you wait for the wheels!
I know they had issues with the gold color on the wheels. At least they're trying to make them right. Props to them. I doubt anyone else is going to make an 88+ IROC replica wheel, that's taller and wider, but looks completely OEM.
I know no one really wants to see pics of the wheels not on a car. But I’m a slacker and the weather has been garbage. Finally got the tires mounted today. Hope to get them on this weekend or next week.
BFGoodrichG-Force Sport Comp 2 275’s for the front. Nitto 555R 315’s for the back. Nittos run thin compared to other 315’s. Happy they don’t buldge off the rim since it’s only 9”.
Thank you very much for posting those pictures IROCthe5.7L. I'm trying to figure out what tires I want so that I am ready to order once the gold Irocs are available to purchase. The BF Goodrich and Nittos were on my short list. The other two tires I am considering are Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric and Continental Extreme Contact Sport. If anyone has any pictures of these two tires on their Iroc wheels that would help me make a decision. Thanks again for posting the pictures!
For what it's worth, Continental also offers a 285-40-17, which I had considered for no other reason then to finally.....after 20 years.....cram in every last inch (.5") that i can back there!!!!!!!! For the non DR crowd, Nitto also offers the NT05 in that 315/35 size. That's might tempting.
...just got 'em! Man they look sharp! Caps are just chrome. Thought they'd have IROC-Z on em, but this is really not an issue at all. -and for that matter the stock caps are supposed to fit, and my stockers are in great shape. Crazy busy at work and home, gettin ready for a week of vacay with the fam, but HOPEFULLY I'll get 'em on by this weekend. We shall see.
Wheels are on! The Iroc caps were in an envelope with one of the wheels, so I got 'em. They did however forget to send the spacers. They are on the way to me now, but Ryan at Hawk's said I may not need them. Clearly I don't. Had 1/8" to 3/16" clearance on both sides. Maybe due to the LS1 brakes??? Anyhow, they fit good, look good, ride good I'm happy!
thanks guys! -yes I agree, Hawk's hit the nail on the head. ....as for tires, I wasn't 100% sold on puttin' a 315 on a 9" wheel, even though obviously you and others have successfully put Nitto's back there. I asked my tire guy about it, and he was a little hesitant. I said no worries, let's just stick with a square set up. That was my original plan anyway.
Looks awesome! Glad to see you finally made the move to 17's.
Thanks! Ya know....to be completely honest, I was more after the 9" width and good performance tire selection. If I could've got a 16x9 and had a good tire selection, I would've gone that route. 17 does look good for sure, and it's more modern, but I never had issue with the 16" dimension. It was more the 8", lol. Kinda like my TPI. I'm not saying it's the best, but does kinda "go" with these cars. Nothing wrong an LS swap, or 17 or 18 inch wheels, just saying my personal 2 cents.
But I can't lie....I did check in on the car in the garage this AM before I left for work. Saw the wheels and I did crack a little smile in approval. They DO look good! haha!

Are there any fitment issues? I'm reading some of the brake conversions push the front wheels an amount that alleviates clearance problems. What about the rear? Doesn't a 315 require a fair bit of massaging? How about the 275 or 285?
I ran 275 on all four corners. -Didn't need spacers as many do. Perhaps because of my LS1 brakes? I don't know.
I would THINK 285 would fit out back with no issues at all. In front, my 275 ever so slightly rubs the inner fender well at full lock, but only on the driver side. 285 would cause rubbing, but not enough (in my case) to NOT do it if I had a reason I needed 285. I did not, hence 275 all around.
As for 315, keep in mind IROCThe5.7L's 315's are Nittos, which run small. Consensus seems to be they're closer to a proper 295....for whatever that's worth.
Abubaca pretty much covered it. The Nitto 315's are not anywhere close to a normal 315. A normal 315 would have fitment issues for sure. And I certainly wouldn't throw them on a 9" rim. A few guys on the thirdgen FB groups have run Nitto 315's in the back with no modifications. I guess I'll find out this week, heh. The person I talked to at Hawk's claimed you can run a 305 tire in the back with no issues.
The front wheels come with spacers from Hawks if you have a stock brake setup.

I don't have the camera abilities Chris has, so don't expect too much from my pictures. But I do love me some gold! I put on some Goodyear Eagles because it is the closest thing I could find to what came on it originally. It's just going to be used for cruising so I didn't need anything that was high performance. It just seems right to have the Goodyear name on the side for my purposes.

Thanks! ....just a few quickies to get 'em out there! Lord knows I've talked about these wheels for years!

Thanks! I really like the gold and I think it looks good with blue, red, maroon and black. I especially like gold and black, if the black wasn't so hard to keep clean. I have decided I am just too lazy to own a black car again.
Everything went on great. No fitment issues. The Nittos didn't "bulge" with the vehicle weight on them. Not trying to be a jerk. But I read in another thread about me putting a "315 tire on a 9" rim and how it's going to bulge". Again, a Nitto 315 IS NOT REAL 315 TIRE. Any other 315 tire is not going to fit under the car, would look ridiculous on a 9" rim, and probably unsafe. Anyway, very happy with the rims! Pictures don't do it justice. Way better in person.
