Hi all!
Does anyone know of any nice and simple rims? I'm looking for my 86 sport coupe. I don't know the size of the wheels now but I just don't like them. I would really appreciate some pictures too! I'm very broke (I'm a student) so please don't tell me about the REALLY nice expensive kind.. Please.
Thanks!
the up sized (17") repo wheels hawks sell are less than a grand for all 4 wheels I've yet to see a better deal on wheels you don't have to run spacers on.
I saw some c6 ones on youtube. Those looked pretty nice. Can someone tell me why I would need spacers? Also if I buy rims in which I want 18 inches... Do I have to buy 19 inch ones? Or do my 18 inch ones come as 18 but due to the lip will already be 19?
I don't follow you can run 17 or 18 inch rims with the right tires, 19 inch rims will have almost zero side walls.
The backspacing and offset is wrong on corvette wheels. Without spacers they wouldn't mount as they would hit your strut and inner wheel well before they reached the hub.
Another conversation here... if you want to know more about backspacing. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...xperience.html
You need to go back to that link I gave you an look up offset and what it means. Our cars have 0 offset in front and 16mm out back. Those wheels listed are 54mm. The spacer/adapter will make up the difference so those new wheels Ty92z listed wil fit like stock.

That may be my fault. We were going over the math in another thread the other night and I may have gotten the OP confused. I mentioned that in WIDTH measurements, the wheel's advertised width/Barrel width/diameter etc. etc. does NOT take into account the lip. Case in point, our/my 16x8 Irocs actually measure about 16.75" x 8.6", give or take. IF you didn't KNOW that, and you stretched a tape measure, you could be in for a surprise. -AND...the backspacing meaurement DOES take this into account. Drove me crazy for days doing that math until someone told me. Omm offset on a 8" wheel has a 4.3" backspacing!? ....but yeah, .3" for the lip.
So to the OP, 18" rims are 18" inch rims. No need to account for lip or anything like that. ....and same for any size you get, whatever the diameter, and whatever width. ....and if you get a 8" wide or 9" wide wheel, again, that's all you need to know. Don't worry about that lip. I only mentioned the lip thing so if for example you buy the wheels and stretch a tape across it, it does technically measure a little bit bigger that the advertised size. -and this is normal. Kinda like a 2x4 piece of lumber isn't actually 2 inches by 4 inches. -but we all call it a 2x4. When someone says they have 18" wheels, they buy 18" tires, but TECHNICALLY.....that measurement is slightly more than 18".
....dramatic pause.... .....forget I ever mentioned that lip thing. LOL
