I was shopping around online as found some simple rims nearby. I'll post the pic of them along with a few others. My question was.. Will any 5 bolt rim work? I assume I get to pick the diameter.. And I should keep the width above or at stock (8 inches?). But will just any rim matching the width and my preference of diameter work? I was told only a few rims will acually fit on our cars but the dude from nearby (on the website I was looking at) said his would fit my car (maybe he's just trying to get money off me!). Any help or explanation is greatly appreciated!

 

Hit up Tirerack.com and similar websites and read up on wheels. They'll explain things in layman's terms that will make more sense than what you'll find here.

The short answer is that the bolt pattern (5x4.75") needs to be correct, the inside diameter of the rim needs to clear the brakes and suspension, and the relation of the tire center line to the mounting surface of the axle need to be correct so that the wheel fits the car and puts the tire in the right position. Get anything wrong and you'll have a wheel that doesn't bolt on, rubs the car, or looks ridiculous.

The cheap and easy way to go is to see if there's a wheel that was used stock on a 82-92 Camaro or Firebird that you like. That way you know it'll work.

 

I concidered doing that but stock wheels look super small. I have stock sport coup wheels and I hate them haha

 

We've discussed multiple wheels in multiple threads, including descriptions of all the various measurements and what they mean, descriptive links, -and diagrams, and it doesn't look like you're willing to listen to us. You don't seem to be picking up on your own, and now you don't trust the guy selling the wheels.

I'm not sure what you're hoping for.

....but still.....if you post up the wheel you're looking at, we can let you know if they'll work, or if they can be made to work, using adapters.

 

I'm sorry but I am trying my hardest to understand. This is all very overwhelming and I'm looking for a straight answer just so I can purchase some and get this confusing nightmare over with lol I thought I did post a Pic of the wheels... I guess not? I'll try that now.

 

 

Start with diameter and width. Get those sorted out. sounds like you're leaning towards an 18" diameter in either 8" or 9" width. Make that decision, and then get your tire size decided. Either width would fit your car, although I suspect you'll find more in your price range at 8". Still....figure that out, then get your tire size. These wheel sizes are very common here, and many guys running tires for them and can tell you what size they're running.

Then with all that figured out, THEN look at offset and backspacing.

 

Agreed. Just FYI 5 x 4.75 is in inches so the metric equivalent is 5 x 120.65mm. The wheels you are looking at have a bolt pattern not compatible.
