While the above red and black does look very good, I'm about to go back to chrome C6's. Just so many cars with black rims these days, at least in my area. I hardly see any chrome anymore...

It really is going to depend on the color of your car and the style of wheel on whether or not it will look good. I personally do not like the c6 5 spoke in chrome, but that 10 spoke looks great in chrome.

Mostly what you like...
But since you asked, my OPINION is that I don't like all black wheels... I don't mind black on wheels, but some hint of another color so that the tire and wheel don't look like 1 thing... being all monochromatic, it's hard to see details, and some wheels look nice / are worth showing...
Again... my OPINION....
Go with what you like...

The thing about black wheels (and black hoods too) is that it all came about from early hotrodding when wasting time and money on foo foo dress up chrome and polish was unecessary, and you'd just slap a base coat of black over everything to get you up and running. It was almost like a badge of honor. Let's people know you're serious. Nowadays of course, blacked out panels, graphics, wheels etc. etc. is obviously the trend. -and often I think it does look pretty cool. I had blacked out wheels on my Trailblazer LTZ with a lift kit and it was pretty tough looking. That being said, a lot of times I feel like people just spray the hood or wheels black, or use plastidip, and it LOOKS like you honestly didn't care, and just slapped a coat of black paint on some old rims so you didn't have to worry about it. It's tough to walk the line between mean/tough/cool looking and ghetto half-a$$ing. Lot of guys DO pull it off very well, but many don't.
As others have said, depends on the car, wheels, etc. etc.

If I were to buy a $70K ZL1, the first thing I'd do is get rid of those ugly black wheels.

IMO, all recent cars, devoid of most chrome or other brightwork, and with their monochromatic paint schemes, need some flash to catch the eye, and to mine, black wheels just kind of disappear on them.
