Tire size question

So I’m running into fitment issues. Bought my Camaro few years ago. Only thing I know is my rims are 17 inches. In the back it has 245/50/17. I tried putting the same size in front. Started rubbing while turning. I do have Vogtland lowering springs on my car. Would a 235/40/17 be ok for front? Or is that too small?

Re: Tire size question

What wheels are they? ....if they're not 0mm offset like standard thirdgen front wheels, it's hard to know what WILL and will NOT work. ....assuming they are...a 245/50/17 is actually taller than factory. A 245/50/16 and a 245/45/17 are both right there under 26" Yours are closer to 26.6". Almost an inch bigger. Still, I'm surprised you're rubbing. Where is it contacting?

Re: Tire size question

235/40-17 would be way too short, and there would be almost no sidewall. If you have the correct wheel (they're wheels) back-spacing, a 245/45-17 SHOULD fit perfectly, as it is 25.7 inches tall. The rim on the WHEEL needs to be at least 8 inches wide for that size...

Re: Tire size question

I’m not too sure. They came with with the car. They are Riddler rims. I’m sure everything is standard. They’re rubbing against the inner fender and rubbing against the splash shield. More so while turning. Rubbing on the bottom of the fender shields. So do you think I should get 245/40/17? It’s been such a pain. Originally in the front was 215/45/17. And I felt those were some weak looking tires.

40s are too short. The factory tire diameter on thirdgens is 25.5" to 26". You need either a 225/50-17, or a 245/45-17.
Having the proper back-spacing is critical...

I wish they were the original rims so I wouldn’t have to mess with all different crap. I like keeping it simple haha. I bought tires online. I’m going to have to send these back. Maybe just have a tire shop look at it, hopefully they can figure it out.
