Re: Keystone classic wheels
I hope not. They're the ugliest wheels ever made, and the wrong era for thirdgens...

Honestly think they look pretty good, but I may be biased as I'm running old school rally's on my camaro right now with dog dish caps.

Those wheels are the top choice amongst pedophiles. Horrid, not to mention how phallic the bottom pic is. This thread ruined my day.

Re: Keystone classic wheels
I actually like the Keystone's, though I'd go classic rally or torque thrust before Keystone. ....or even 15" z28 wheels. I think for me the issue is that back in the day, it was like an aftermarket upgrade. Today though, especially on a car that's NEWER than the Keystone, they just look a little misplaced in my opinion. That being said, if it's what you want....rock on.

Re: Keystone classic wheels
Keystone klassics were very popular in the mid-80s on all kinds of cars-i think the auto parts stores sold them and i have seen a few on 3rd gen sport coupes, but not on z28s or Irocs,Were sometimes seen on 3G firebirds too.The keystones came out about 1967 IIRC,about same time as Cragar SS, I think those bear wheels were made by Ronal...

Re: Keystone classic wheels
I think more 70s than 80s, but definitely both.
I put them on my first car, which was a hand-me-down from dad, a 1976 Malibu Classic he got new. Nice car. HEAVY. Two-door, opera windows, 350 w/2-barrel carb, cream gold color. Looked good with the chrome and black Keystones. Sold it in 1982 after I got my 1982 Z28.
Everyone was all about Cragar. Cragar, Cragar, Cragar, like a bad real life Brady Bunch experience. Ugh. But the Keystone Klassics were different, had style, IMO. Now they're owned by Cragar, not sure about then. You could buy them off the shelf. But they pitted badly in my Indiana climate, so it was a lot of work to keep them looking nice. Interestingly, where I live now, in the NV desert, there's a yard full of trashed junk cars, and there used to be one that looked just like my old Malibu, color, Keystones and all. I never went up to look at it though.
I noticed you also have a rear disc conversion thread for your 85 Z28. Since you'll apparently be sticking with 15" wheels, stock, Keystones or whatever, you won't have many options for upgrading to rear discs. There is a drum-to-disc conversion offered by www.Flynbye.com and a large thread for it somewhere here on TGO, to upgrade to the 89+ Performance Package rear brakes (same as 93-97 rear brakes), but whether or not it will fit 15" wheels, stock or aftermarket, I don't know. But that's probably going to be the only option available to you, other than swapping to the original style factory Delco Moraine iron brakes.
