Need help picking out wheels?
Need help picking out wheels?
I've been thinking about new wheels for years now, but now I'm finally getting more serious about it. But I just can't figure out what specs I need to make a wheel fit. Hoping someone knows this stuff and can help me select some wheels that are going fit.
Hoping someone can take a look at a couple options I'm thinking about, and what it would take (if possible) to make them work.
My setup. 92 Camaro, stock front and rear disc brakes (I could possibly upgrade brakes in the future, but would be a mild upgrade). Suspension is stock height on the car, just some Koni shocks is all I've done. No plans to lower the car.
I'm thinking an 18 wheel would look good (18x9? or 18x9.5?), my goal is to keep close to the overall OEM tire/wheel diameter. I want to keep everything within the wheel well and don't want to modify fenders or anything like that.
This is also just a cruising car that I drive a few times in the summer.
I know that some spacers, or some type of adapter is most likely going to be needed and I'm OK with that.
The wheel styles I've been looking at are like the ones below, kind of wanting something with a concave look to it.
The Forgestar F14
https://www.forgestar.com/wheels/f14
18x9 has these specs
Wheel offset: +35
backspacing: 6.4
I've seen these wheels mentioned a couple times on the site, I saw one thread that had them installed (but I think they had 19 inch). But the front wheels the hub had to stick out. Any way to avoid this?
Apex E7
https://apexwheels.com/wheels/flow-f...ize=18x11-et44
Can't find the specs on this one, maybe someone else knows?
Any wheel experts here that can help me pick the right wheel with the right specs?
Are either of those above a possibility, if so.
What width of wheel would fit and not rub, and what tire combo would be best? What type of adapters/spacers for either?

Re: Need help picking out wheels?
that looks like a pretty cool tool, but it looks like I would need to have a tire in the size to use it. Is that correct?
So I reached out to MW Company, who I believe is the parent company to Forgestar. (anyone know if this is correct).
They will actually make the wheels to fit our cars.
He gave me a quote on a 18x9 inch wheel, and said it would be custom made for a 3rd gen Camaro. Takes about 7 weeks.
My requirements to him were no rubbing, and I wanted everything to fit inside the wheel well. I also wanted to ensure that the front hubs dont' extrude and that I can use the center caps.
If I were to do this, what size tire, would keep me close to the OEM overall diameter with these wheels.
Anyone have a tire brand preference?
