Tire Sizing Advice
In the process of getting my new to me 84 Z ready for the road and I'm looking at getting a C5 Z06 staggered 17x9.5/18x10.5 setup to replace the stock wheels and dry rot tires that came on the car.
After searching through the forums and different year Camaro forums I'm unsure what size to go with. I do apologize for the ignorance, I've never been an aftermarket wheel guy, so the offset and backspacing talk is a bit new to me. I feel like I've come to the conclusion that the 275/40/17 is the accepted tire for the front but I can't come to a conclusion for the rear. Right now I'm stock height but may lower a little bit in the future, so I'd like something compatible. Car is just a weekend driver. I was thinking 285/40/18 since I could match General Gmax-RS on all 4. Am I completely wrong in this thoughts or any other suggestions on a 18x10.5 tire size that won't break the bank with a decent look/fitment? Thanks for the help!

Re: Tire Sizing Advice
I have a rear 305/35/18 on a 10 inch wheel. They fit perfect. They don't stick out of the wheel well and have good clearance w wheel well sheet metal. 275/35/18 on a 10 up front.

Re: Tire Sizing Advice
I have the C5 set on my ‘86. Running the standard C5 tire size front and rear with 2” spacers all around. Fits good with no issues. I bought a pair of 18’s to put on the front but haven’t gotten to it yet. Check out LSXMatt for some pictures and setup on his car. He also has lowered springs.
