F-body/Corvette LT1 cam differences?

I'm building a motor for my '84 T/A to replace the carbed 305 it has now. Fresh factory shortblock with mildly pocket ported Vortec iron heads...I'm using an Edelbrock Q-jet right now but plan on a LTR TPI setup in the future. I'm trying to avoid having the heads machined, but I do have stock-diameter springs on them good to .550 lift. I was thinking of an LT1 roller cam...are there any differences in the 'Vette cams, and if so, how much? if I have to machine them, I have a couple ZZ4 cams and an LT4 hot cam to choose from. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!

The LT1 cam is the same all the way around weather its in a vette or Fbody. The differnce in HP was from intake housing and the exhuast. I wouldn't use a LT4 hot cam but the LT4 cam is fine. If you do a hot cam you *might* have coil bind issues. Also its a goofy way to get higher lift. Just get a C306 cam or TPIS ZZ-409 cam if you want something like the LT4HKM. Goodluck!

That isn't exactly correct. There were a few variations on the "stock" LT1 cam as delivered from GM Powertrain, depending upon the vehicle in which the cam was installed:

I'd machine the heads either way, then use centering washers if necessary. You'll probably have to machine the valve guide bosses anyway.

Sì, Dà, Ja, Yes, Yupper...

The LT4 "Hot varieties all had 1.6:1 rockers from teh factory. If you'll notice, the '95 'F' car with 1.6 rockers specs just about the same as the "regular" LT4 'Y' car lifts and durations. Coincidence?
