Hooker 2055. Comes with y-pipe, O2 bung, A.I.R. pipes. Get a 3" slip-fit cat for '86-90 TPI applications. Either modify current cat-back to fit, or get cat-back for above application.

Have to reroute driver's side A.I.R. Stock check valve faces forward, on 2055's it faces rearward.

Ceramic coated headers a plus. I hear Jethot offers them (coated inside & out vs. just outside if you get them coated from Hooker).

I'm with five7kid on this one.

Though I'm about to order some Hedman long tubes, coated, I can't swing the price for Hooker long tubes coated.

Which 305 do you have? The LG4 exhaust is horrible, and should be replaced from heads to rear bumper.

Some shops won't install a cat that an owner brings in ("application" issues, EPA fines, etc.). All I can say there is talk to a few shops and see what they tell you. Cat-back system shouldn't be a problem; Mark likes the Hooker, Flowmaster and Dynomax also seem to do well.

Remember, you're going for the '86-'90 TPI application, ignore the fact that yours is an '85. The shop may not want to ignore that, though.

You're probably looking at several hundred dollars labor if the shop knows what they're in for. The job isn't "hard", just time consuming. Two experienced techs could probably get it done in half a day, but with shop rates like we've got around here, you're looking at $400 labor at least. Plus the headers, cat & cat-back, and misc hangers, gaskets, hoses, etc.

Enter "HOK-2055" in the Summit p/n search field for uncoated, "HOK-2055-1" for coated. It'll give you the prices for each.

Includes A.I.R., O2, y-pipe, bolts, gaskets, etc.

I just found the edelbrock tes ones coated for $341.99 at Jeg's. There is a $5.99 oversize handling charge also, but free shipping. These are nickle coated by the way. (I just called Jeg's and confirmed that)

Here is the link to the product page.

They are a shiny nickle plating and have a 1 year warranty on the headers and finish.

Do the hedman shorties have the air tubes on them? And, do they hook up to your stock y pipe?

By the way, I emailed Jet Hot today about getting a set of coated hookers from them. Here is their reply.

Dear Dan,

I can offer the Hooker #2055(shorty headers and Y pipe), coated in&out with the sterling silver finish,is $560 to your door. All new parts get a lifetime corrosion warranty and a 2yr finish warranty. Feel free to call or email with any questions.

Thanks

Chris

what headers can you get so that you can use your stock y-pipe?

I just don't have the extra money to spend on one.

Those edelbrocks have a nickel/chrome plating- nothing high-temp like Jet-Hot. -Just for good looks I guess. -89IRO
