I got my dark covers from White's Pit Shop, on Torrence and 170th in Lansing, Illinois. Sorry I don't know the phone # but it is listed. They still have some clear and smoke for $30.00. I personally don't like the clear unless you are going for the effect, but the black on a black car is very sweet. Sorry no pics yet.

are the covers flat or are they slightly bowed to the contour of the nose? because if they're flat i was thinking of just cutting some out of plexiglass

No, they have a lip on the top of them! The company that made mine is GTS, just like the blackouts they make. Try Summit since they still sell GTS products. If they have GTS parts and GTS still makes them, you can get them from Summit. I believe mine came out to be $35 shipped, not too sure. I got mine from JC Whitney like 4 yrs ago.

the clear covers on that show car are screwed into the plastic. It looks good, but what is sad is that the paint job looks soooo nice, yet they really messed it up where they screwed directly into the headlight bucket plastic.

About opening the rear hatch: I own a convertable so I'm not sure. But my 2000 ta hatch was a complete unit; this show car was designed so that only the glass opens.

Do you know if they used the GTS clear covers and modded them to bolt in flush like that? Or did they custom make those headlight covers? I ask because I've had the black headlight covers and I had problems with them because of the mounting design. They are attached to two rubber pieces on the sides of the headlight pocket. This leaves space on the top and bottom for water and air to get behind the cover. I always noticed that water would gather behind the cover and fog it (make it look crappy). After a few months the pass side cover flew off at 114 and I never saw it again. I think if there was a better mounting method that did not allow air/water into the pocket then those would rock. These are the main reasons holding me back from getting another set. If I did it again I would go with clear covers and a different mounting design.

That is why i have yet to mount mine. Crappy design! I lost the reciept so i did not return them. I am not too fond of mounting them the way they come so they are just siting here.

I had some for a bit. My front clip and GFX were scrached up anyway so i was into trying diffrent things. Untill someone stole them and i didnt like them enough to get a new pair. The best way to explain why i got them is with this pic. Its of my car and my broithers car. It makes it look a little smoother. I dunno.

There were factory clear headlight covers available for export cars, but not the US cars. All export setups screwed into the body which didn't allow for them to fly off. They also fit better and sealed better than the aftermarket ones. The original 82 Indy Pace car has them and so does my dad's.

I love clear covers over bucket lights. If I had a Camaro I would get them. The covers give a the Camaro a Europeaneske look to them.

GM partsdirect does not have a lot of part#s in their data base. It's just how it is. If they are truely GM part#s, then it will come up in the computer, either available or not.

crazy hawaiian

Hey man...we have talked before about headlight mods. I am waiting on a pair of clear headlight covers. But they are not the ones that screw in. Those are good because they don't fly off. I can't do those because my hood release is weird and I have to lift up on one side while I do a secret knock on the hood where the latch is. Every time I needed in the engine I'd have to unscrew the headlight covers. But I'll post you a pic of how the other kind look before you order the "screw in" type.

i dunno... i'm torn on the headlight covers. from the side it looks cool, more aerodynamic i guess. but from the front, the aftermarket ones look like crap (stock ones or well-mounted ones at least look alright). just my 2 cents worth.

i HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM WITH MINE YET, EXCEPT THAT I CRACKED ONE THE OTHER DAY WHILE INSTALLING THE WIRING FOR MY FOGS SO i HAD TO GET ANOTHER SET. ANYONE WANTING EITHER CLEAR OR BLACK PM ME. I KNOW THAT WHITE'S PIT STOP IN LANSING ILLINOIS HAS THEM AND THEY SHIP. PM ME AND I'LL LOOK UP THE NUMBER.

I SCREWED MINE IN TO THE BRACKET BUT NOT INTO THE BODY. SO FAR SO GOOD. BE VERY CAREFUL TAKING THEM OFF TO CHANGE BULBS. I HAVEN'T HAD A PROBLEM WITH FOG BUT WATER WILL FORM SO EVERY SO OFTEN I REMOVE THEM FOR POCKET CLEANING PURPOSES.

AS FAR AS LOOKS MY WIFE SAYS MY CAR LOOKS LIKE IT HAS SUNGLASSES ON. I DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS A GOOD THING OR A BAD THING BUT IT SOUNDS KOOL AS HELL.

could someone maybe post a close up pic of thier headlight covers, i put some "AVS" brand ones on my car and they look like this. the taillight blackouts look fine. They make it look like a beetle or something. i got them from canadian tire. I might get some GTO covers, they seemed to look a bit better.

Whatabout taking a pair of the clear ones and having them painted to match your car color? Just a thought since everyone seems to like the black on black. Anyone want to try to photoshop a set like that onto my car?

Howabout some black ones on this pic to match the bra...?

Here's the Blk. one's. I like these better than the clear, but on the pic. from the original post at the top those clears look good. I guess it depends on each indv. car.

Well here's the scoop from GMPartsDirect:

16501949 & 16501950 were the headlamp opening covers listed for ZK3
option export camaros from 1982-1984. They have been discontinued with no
remaining stock anywhere. Sorry.

Thank You, www.GMPartsDirect.com

I was wondering. Wouldn't headlight covers restrict air intake on many of our cars. The intake for TBI and carbed cars is right behind the headlights after all. Or am I just an idiot?

on those cars most of the air comes in under the hood and up the fender well.

Sorry guy, I did not see your question until just now. I have not had time to get the white lithium to do it. Got so busy with work; what a mad-house. I'm going to try and get to it in the next couple of weekends. Thanks again.

anyone have any close up pics of thier headlight covers? clear or black? i have some ****ty kind that uses velcro and it really sucks.
VELCO - What brand do you have? The best ones are GTS. They have these 2 slotted pieces that attach to the lens pockets, then you slide the covers inside. You can then screw mount them (I recomend) or leave alone in the slots for daily removal by either you or your local thief.

Here's a pic. Sorry for the clarity but it is a blowup of a much larger pic but you got the idea.

what would it look like if u take the clear headlight covers and leave the center clear, but paint the outside edge black so where the light shines through in the middle it would be a chevy bowtie, can someone photoshop that?

Clear headlight covers are the biggest waste of money, I hade them for about 3 days then I took them off. First you didnt even notice they were on when you looked at the car. I hade LUND one and they weren't made to fit inside the pocket, the layed ontop of the pocked and velcowed to the front bumper. (they were made like thiat to keep them from blowing off). It had a big rubber seal around it so it would chip the paint. So when you looked at my white car all you say was a black line around my lights.

DO NOT BUY HEAD CLEAR LIGHT COVERS.
