Delco O2 Sensor... OK, I'm convinced!
Delco O2 Sensor... OK, I'm convinced!
I swapped out my Bosch (Bad Oxygen Sensor Costs Horsepower) sensor for a Delco AFS 74.
Wow, what a difference. It smoothed out the idle a lot, gave me an 1 inHg more idle vacuum, and eliminated an off-idle stumble that I've been battling for the longest time. There's also a noticeable part-throttle acceleration improvement (when below PE threshold). And it only cost me about $40 to the door from GM parts direct. The dang Bosch sensor costs about $65 from Autozone!
Anyway, I'm going to do a mileage check later to see any improvement there too.

Too bad about Bosch, since they used to be the OEM supplier for GM sensors, injectors, MAFs, etc.

I was able to found that the GM part number for the ACDelco part AFS-74 is in fact 25312179.
I found a list of cars that this sensor came on off the web so I am not sure of it's accuracy but could be useful:

Looks like a different part number for the LT5 (it uses 2) and there is a first and a second design meaning they changed something about it.

I know I've seen the part number for the pigtail that connects to that sensor posted before but was unable to find it by searching and would like to order that the same time as the sensor if someone knows the part number. Also where is a good source to get the Bosch LSU4.2 WB sensor? BTW never trust the sensor safe adhesives
Thanks

Thanks

I have a one wire boch o2 on my 91 RS, I would like to switch to a Delco. Do they make a 1 wire version?

Yep, sure do, but I believe you have to go to a dealer to get it.

Turbo city sells a heated o2 sensor kit, supposedly with everything you need for 89 bucks, not sure if its a boch or delco sensor or not.

Your right, it sounds like you need the heated O2 sensor (that's what I did).
You can get the AFS-74 heated sensor (part numbers shown above) and wire it in yourself cheaper than the $89 turbo city kit (which is an unknown brand of O2 sensor). That's what I did as well. If you want a plug into the harness sensor, you can either get a connector from Pep Boys and splice it into the harness (also what I did), or just cut the connectors off the O2 sensor and harness and use any 3 wire connector of your choice (or a 4 wire and leave one empty - a buddy of mine used 4 wire trailer wiring connectors for his setup).

they sell some good stuff, like centered adapter plates to put our tbi's on carb intake, adapters to adapt 454 and Holley throttle bodies to our different TPS,IAC connectors without having to butcher up your harness, and more good stuff tailored to our specific application. I emailed him asking him if the actual o2 sensor in his 'kit' was a boch or a delco, it also implies you get the pigtail in the kit. If it is the delco and has the pigtail its not a bad deal.
Ok he replied here is my question to him and his answer
Q)
In regards to part # 975-566 the heated 02 sensor kit. I was wondering if that is a boch, or delco 02 sensor. I have heard nothing but bad things about boch
A) We use Delco parts in our kits.
delco o2, the pigtail, extra wires, instructions all for that price aint bad really. I'm trying to verify it has the weatherpack pigtail in the 'kit'.

If it is a Delco and has the pigtail, then that is not a bad deal at all....
