Ok, so there are a few people who have seen the tech article on how to install a center console but would like pictures and a few have asked to see mine so here they are.

This is the console and the flashlight.

Next is marking the holes.

**If you are using this as a guide, do not follow this exactly, I had to make modifications later during the install.

Thanks for the compliments.

The features it comes with are, obviously, a flashlight, a map lights, a button that turns on all the internal lights, a pocket, and 2 dial for numbers. The dials have a bunch of things like aniversery, milage, trip, date, odometer, and things like that. I'll probably get rid of the dials to put some switches for some of my accessories up there but it's still a neet feature.

Okay fellas, here's my question, my 85 IROC parts car had that center console in it and it had T-tops...should i try to rebuild the console and bolt it in?

TRP

PS - the secondary light for the head-console, does it run on its own batteries? What powers it?

Just curious, what year of camaro did those come factory in? My 82 SC had that same console installed before I bought it back in 94. Good job, looks great, much better than just a light.

hey Craz-28, what did you have to do to wire the console up? I had the dome light with 2 map lights on my car (two wires going to it from the harness) so i'm curious if i need another power for the pivoting map light or not...

All I had to do was cut the power wire from the dome light and then run it into the 2 purple wires on the console. This powered the dome light and the map lights also. Then there should be a wire on the console that is the same color as on your car, I beleive it's the orange one. conect both of those and then your ground and it should work. I'll check later just to be sure.

Is that bag hanging down removeable? if so what's the console look like under it? Looks kinda weird with that freakin sack hanging down, I want one but I would want to remove that... Would make room for some custom switches for fan, fuel pump, etc and such too.

Yeah I was thinking the same as Ray87Z. Because my 86 has a console and i want it in the 89 but the pouch elastic strap is hanging. Is there a way to fix it or has anyone done anything custom??

I think t-top and hartop versions are slightly different and I don't think they're interchangble...in case your car is a hardtop as opposed to your t-top doner car. I'm not absolutely certain so someone else might want to verify.

I got my console from IROCZDAVE here. He must go to salvage yards and pull the parts he gets or something... Anyway, I got a T-top console (yes, the T-top ones are different from the non) and it came with physical installation instructions, wiring instructions, and wiring but-splice connectors. It was only around 60 bucks for an "A" condition console with flashlight IIRC. I use the little bag for my cell phone...

looks awesome, but am i the only one wondering why you didn't fix your headliner while you had it out of the car?

If your referring to my headliner, I did fix the problems that I had with it. The final pictures were just the end of the trial fitting, so I had to remove the headliner to again to do some final adjustments.
