Removing AIR but what pipe fittings do I need? any have pics?
I went to the hardware store and looked for 1/4" flare/NPT pipe fittings. I couldn't find anything that looked like it would work. I know I need 8 of them to plug the holes in the manifolds but I don't know what exactly I am supposed to be buying. Does anyone have pics. My headers are on big time back order so I am going to remove the AIR now.

They had something similar to what i thought I was supposed to get but it was like 3/8" and 1/2" and way too big. They must not have carried what i was looking for. Now do i get NPT or flare fittings. I have heard guys using both and a few that say you can't use NPT bla bla..etc etc.

I went to the local NAPA dealer and got mine. They were hex head flare plugs. That is the only thing that will work properly.
The threads on flare fittings are not the same as NPT. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Just to prove my point, go to any GOOD harware store (not a 'box store' like Menard's) and tell them you need to run a gas line to your dryer. They will ask you what size flare fitting you have, and what size pipe you have. Then they will sell you a NPT/Flare coupling (usually both male, but some are male flare/female NPT).
The pipe on my car was 1/4". I don't know if all are the same, but flare fittings are based on the size of the pipe, not the size of the threads. Trust me on this.
It's very easy to find a brass plug that has NPT threads, but this is not what you want. You want a flare plug.
If they had no idea what you're talking about, then you went to the wrong place (aka 'box strore'). Most of the people that work at those places don't know any more than you do. Some do, but very few.

Awesome! Thanks a bunch. You wouldn't happen to have any pics would you? Of your cleaner engine bay or the flare fittings themselves?

Here ya go.
This one is with the AIR lines removed. Obviously you know about what it looks like with them there.

Here's one of the plug on the 8 cylinder (if you can call it that?).
Notice that it has a small dimple where the pipe would be if it was a flare fitting instead of a plug.
Sorry I don't have a pic of a raw plug (before I installed it). But a flare plug will have this dimple. That's another way to tell if you have the right one.
BTW, ignore the filthy engine bay. I'll soon be putting in a 355 cid, and I'm not gonna bother cleaning anything until the 305's out.

Thanks man you have been a huge help. I will post some before and after pics when I am done, pending that my local napa has those plugs.
