Quick ? on IAC adjustment
Earlier today I tryed doing the IAC adjustment that is listed in Tech Articles, since I have a high idle (been like that since I had the car). I am pretty sure I did it right but the only thing is that I had a couple of problems with the directions. The article doesn't say when to take the paper clip/wire out of the ALDL. I am just wondering when you are supposed to remove it. Also, if the IAC is disconnected, it should be hard to start, right?, cuz it took a while to get the engine to cranked and idling with it disconnected.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Alright. When I did it earlier today I did just that. I put the wire in the ALDL, put the car on KOEO (key on, engine off), waited about 30 seconds, pulled the connector off the IAC, pulled the wire out, and then tryed to start it.
Thanks for the help.

No need to ajust or reset it. ECM automatically sweeps the IAC though its full range of motion to reset it upon each shutdown. Shorting the ALDL will only cause the IAC to completly extend away from its park position, thereby moving it to a different place then the ecm thinks it is upon the next start up.
