Center console leg cushion install

I just got a console leg cushion from an 84 Trans Am to put on my 90 Formula . I figured I could drill holes in my console and just pop it in using the pads plastic plugs. The problem is the radio pod and console in the 85-92 are seperate and not flush like that of an 84 TA. So they'll be a noticeable gap. Plus I'm worried that if I have to take out the center console, I'll break the pad's plastic plugs by removing it. I was thinking of using velcro and trying to bend it to the contour of the pod/console. Has anyone else done this?

Yeah, it was a pretty rare option. I think it was only available on 83-84 Trans Ams. The back is thin sheet metal, so I guess I can bend it. I was just wondering if anybody else had tried to do it.

Yes it can be done I took mine out of my 84' trans am and popped out the plastic plugs and bent it slightly and used the super lock velcro on my 91 trans am and its been two years now
and it still works good!

I've got the same pad. I was thinking of putting it on my 86 T/A also but I didn't want to break the plastic plugs off or do anything else permanent to it. I guess that would be the only way tho.
