Before my accident wiht my 89 camaro i had purchased 3.42 gears 3.08 and lower carrier meaning 2 series carrier. Now i bout a 92 camaro and i wanna get a differential, im looking in jegs right now at auburn posis. Woud this be the right its 28 spline which my car has right now its a 92, and its for 3.08 -down(meaning a series 2 carrier which i had purchased for my first89) right???? This stuffs confusing oh yea and the part number in jegs is 109-542041 ....324.99

The 'series' of the gears and carrier must be the same. Are you planning on using the 2 series 3.42's from your '89. If so, you need a 2 series carrier.

Yea thats what i thought, but in jegs it doesnt state this carrier is for 2 series or 3 it says 308 and lower or 323 and higher. Im assuming 3.08 and lower is a 2 series right??

3.08 and lower is series 2. I highly suggest being very very positive that you need series 2. If the ring gear is not extremely thick you have a series 3 carrier. If you are absolutely sure then go with the series 2. The thing is I was SURE that I had a series 2 carrier, untill I bought new gears. Then, suprise suprise, it turns out the calculations I did were off and I had a series 3 carrier.

look on your ring gear and look for the stamped number. 42:13 or something similar should be stamped there. Do the math to be absolutely sure you have the correct carrier.

(42:13 means 42/13=3.23 gears. 41:11=3.73 gears and so on.)
