Guages:odometer problem/ needle removal
ok so im riding down the road and i hit a really huge bump. I look at my odometer and i went from 81K miles to 103K miles. I opened the dash up and the gears on the odometer are broken. How would i go about fixing this problem? How do i take the guage needles off? Also while im in there i want to replace the damn orange condom bulbs to white. How do i do that?

If the gears are broken, then you will need to replace the spdo.
Buy a used one and reset the odometer to match how many miles you had. As for the lights I just replaced all the orange ones with clear 168's. Looks better I think.

the needles are easy to take off, just take your time and be careful. you need to pry them off, but you MUST apply pressure directly away from the gauge. if you try to pry it off at an angle, you will snap the little post and then you're fuc*ed. i did this when i was taking the needles off to paint them, good thing i was taking them off the old 85mph speed and not the 145mph
hey i found a replacment tac. and spedo. gauge in the junkyard and im gonna put it in my 87' Trans Am, but i cant my gauge cover off i un-did all the bolts. But there seems to be a clip or something above the AC/Heat controls......no clue????? some help would be great. Its an '87 Trans am

You need to unplug the connectors on the switches mounted to the guage bezel. You should be able to pull it out enough to reach the connectors easy. Tilt it down from the top.
