Ticket for no front plate, any suggestions?

Well, some old bag called the parking police to tell them that I did not have a front licence plate. I think it was in responce to me changing my coolent in the driveway. Well other than the hastle to find my old frame and screws, it only cost ten bucks. But anyway, has anyone found a cool way to mount the licence plate other than the stock way. I just hate how it covers up the center of the grille.

The kicker is that there was a car behind me that didn't have a frnt plate, and no ticket. ERRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

Theres a nice 91/91 Z28 I've seen riding around here and it has the plate mounted on the ground effect under the driver's side parking light. I don't really like it cause I wouldn't wanna mount anything on my ground effects, but it doesn't cover the center of the grille so if its that important, go for it. I see the car parked quite often, next time I'll take a closer look and try to see how he's got it on there. When I get my new front end, I'm just gonna leave the plate off even though its illegal in Illinois. If a cop says anything, I'll just tell him I just got a new front end and the bracket hasn't come in yet.

EDIT: I believe the guy by the member name "REV LIMIT" on here has his mounted on the ground effect as well.

go smash the old bitch's tail light, then call the cops for faulty equipment. J/K.

Anyway, just pay the ticket and leave it off. If the same bitch calls again, file a harassment report.

I recently saw pics of somebody's TTA. They didnt want to put a hole in the body...and they had some custom holder....it mounted under the front end and somehow was in the regular position. It looked pretty good from what I could see. I think the pic was on Transamgta.com. I am not fully sure though. I will look around and try to find the pic. After then maybe you can email the guy or the webmaster in order to find out.

Ive had my front license plate off for about two years now and havent had any problems (knock on wood), just carry the bracket and plate in the car with you and if you get pulled over, just tell the cop you just got back from buying the bracket and are going to put in back on when u get home.

In NY you are allowed to keep it in your windshield. So if you want...when you park your car...just put it in your windshield inside your car on top of the console. Then when you go driving...just put it under your seat. That is what a lot of people do around here. Then if a cop pulls you over...just say it fell off the dash...and just get it from under your seat....lol.

Move to kansas, no front plate required. Around here (nebraska) it's just an excuse for an officer to pull you over and try to find other stuff(seat belt, etc...), or to just pull over a nice looking car to give them a ticket. The cops around here get pretty bored.

I dont know how things work in CA, but I dont understand how you can get a ticket if you werent operating the vehicle at the time. Was the car parked on a public road or lot or something. Even then I dont see how you would get a ticket for that if it was parked at the time.

Hell, I guess you could fight it in court and tell them you took it off briefly to scrub the dead bugs off so it would reflect radar and lazer better; therefore helping out the cops do their job.

Hey Jiffy, that sucks. But I think I will have a bigger problem. Cars without a license plate can't be used at the DMV for the behind the wheel license test. And when my dad first got the bird, there was no front plate in the first place. Any suggestions on excuses????

There is a bunch of old bitches that live around here, so Im not to sure which one called, but as soon as I find out which one I will be sure to flash my brights every time I pass her front window at night. And when I get my new exhuast on Im going to be sure to rev it up as I roll through the neighbor hood, and I have 200 watt pumped into two 12 inch subs, Its time to be loud at night! luckily I will only be in this neighbor hood for 4 more months then we move.

Thanks for the suggestions, I might just have it dangle under the front GFX on a tiny chains.I can pin it up under my GFX when I drive and when I park it, I will let it dangle on the front. That way she can't call again.

I say leave it off. I have never had a front plate on any car I've owned. The only time I get pulled over is by those highway patrol kweers. I think having to wear those hats p1ss them off and they take it out on the world.

I have never had my license plate in front. I keep it in the trunk.

It is mandatory here in Texas to have one up front.

This past July, DPS gave over 150 tickets at the Annual Texas Heat Wave Custom Car Show.

They just waited at the gate and signaled people over for no front license plates, exhaust changes, too low to the ground, etc.

There was a big hoot about it hear in the paper's for about a month after.

They organizers decided to move it from Round Rock to another location for next year.

Jiffy, I haven't had a front plate on my Camaro since I bought it over 10 years ago. But, times are changing. I know they are starting to crack down hard in some areas here in SoCal. A few Members of SC3GFB have been cited by meter readers. One Member made a custom bracket that attaches with existing mounting bolts under the front gfx of his GTA. It puts the plate in the center, but a little lower than stock. It looks OK, but is still not as clean looking going without a plate though. If and when I get cited I'll work out a mounting method. Until then I'm still flaunting the law. I guess I won't be visiting your neighborhood anytime soon. LOL

I got a ticket two days ago for not having my front plate. Thing is i just had the car painted the day before and i explained to the cop that i didnt want to mess with the paint by putting the bracket on. Of course he looks at me with a stupid look on his face and says im gonna issue you a summons. So he gives me the ticket for $42 bucks and then i get all pissed and ask him if he pulls over all the guys in CORVETTES riding around here with no front plate! so i go to court on Sept 15 to show the judge the receipts from the paint place. Friggin cops!

What's up y'all, I'm in California, and I had that problem as well.

I dunno about you other folks, but we have red light cameras, and that's why they want the plates on front, to snap a shot of you and your plate #.

When it happened to me, i had a new paint as well, never had holes either, and i love the flush look w/out a plate, so i duck taped the plate to the front when i got to court, he signed my correction slip, and it was $10. Took the crap off till next time, damn pigs.

where I live here in Ohio no front plate is a $75 dollar ticket for your first offense, and a court appearance and increasing fines for subsiquent violations. There has even been talk of revoking driving privleges for multiple violations. Most of the communities around me don't bother with a warning either, first time is usually a ticket.

Go to the dealer and get an RPO (options) sheet for your car and you will see that a front plate bracket was an _OPTION_.

Someone on this board said they carry the option sheet in their car incase they get stopped, if they do they will just show the sheet to the officer.

If having a front plate is a requirement in your state, any officer or judge is not going to care what was or what wasnt an option on your car. That goes for new paint jobs, too. All they care about is that you comply with the law, period.

It was an option because not all states require a car to have a front plate. Most cars are shipped without the front plate holder mounted, then the dealer is required to install it before selling the car. This allows dealers to do invetory swapping between states with differing regulations.

I got one ticket for no front plate at the street races where cops look for any excuse for a ticket, and I have had 4 warnings from various city cops around DFW. Usually its the bitch cops who bother you about it, or the cops trying to clock you with laser guns. When they see a car coming, the first thing they try to bounce the laser off of is the front LP. So you can imagine how it would irritate them not to have one. Anyways, I say f*ck the police and keep it off. Thats just me because I hate police though. When my buds car died in traffic, a cop drove right by and didnt even slow down. I thought they were supposed to help people... Anyways, my ticket was in Irving, TX and cost me $97.

Yeah, I'll probably get pulled over for it, but it's not a moving violation so I'll pay the money and live with a nice looking front end with no holes. Also, Plano sucks like that. The cops must be bored.

Oh yeah I did... 2 in 2 days from the SAME COP. I won't get in to it on the board though. They were $25 each or $50 if not paid by the deadline. I called the station and said it was harassment so the second one got erased and I have court 2/5 for the other one. The cop was a real dick too.

How did they arrest you you would have had to get smart with the cop or have a warrent for your arrest? Unless you really pissed off some cop I don't see them taking you under arrest for a front plate.

here's a summary:use to lead a lot of the racers in plano. would set up meets, find spots, etc. it got to the point where i had cops pulling my FRIENDS over asking where i was. we were in addison racing one night, and they raided us, with a plano cop watching the entire time. they couldnt get me for racing b/c i had not raced once the entire night, so they took me in on that and a friend of mine had a prior for street racing and didnt have a plate on his integra so they took us both in. when the judge asked me if i had any warrants or other citations at the time and i said no, he looked at me with the "you've got to be kidding me" look. so i told him the cop (wheatley) felt i was more detrimental to society than the racers they let go b/c i didnt have a front plate. he dropped the case, gave me my bail money back , and apologized

I got pulled over twice within 6 months by the same state trooper on the street i live on for not having a front license plate. He accused me both times of not wearing my sealtbelt ( lets just say i got a lil mouthy with him on that ). First time i got warning, the second time he was driving by me in the other direction and i had my plate in my front window, he asked me where my front plate was! Trying not to cry i bolted the plate on the front of my trans am when i got back home so he wouldn't bother me again.

You can mount it to the Air Dam underneath the car.
It is legal as long as you can see it from the front of the car.
I'll try and take a pic of my friends 97 WS6. Looks pretty cool.

MattRS: that sucks man I would have messed with the cop after that just to remind him he was a idiot. that seriously sucks. Were I live there are so many rednecks that don't have any plates on their farm trucks or it is so covered in mudd that the cops don't even mess with you about the front plate.

You guys wanna hear a story? How 'bout a ticket for no front plate 2 days after I bought the car. And this also happend to be my last day of highschool. I told the cop I just bought the car and his response was "Tell it to the judge" in a cocky tone. The judge wouldn't even allow me to tell him the story, he said " Tell it to the attorney ". The court appointed attorney ( who is never on your side ) told me it was all my fault for buying a car with no plate and that a responsible citizen would not drive his new Camaro convertible without waiting and getting a new plate. Little weasel. So in the end I plead no contest and payed $70 instead of $105. Morale of the story, never come to Pearland, Tx, we have the most crooked justice system in the whole state!

If it was me i would take a dump on her windshield and then show her my weiner, , just kidding. Just put the plates on and avoid any problems. I agree with Nightcruzer in NY you get a hefty $55.00 dollar ticket, lucky you Jims83TA. Hey vortech305 Rudy is a pisan, Italian.

Heres my story:
Its the day after Christmas and I'm at work. I park my car all the way down the aisle to avoid door dings, etc. and I see the cop sitting in his car by mine. I thought maybe he's just running the plates cause my car is always in the same place every day, and might look suspicious . So I continue to work, and I'm about 5 mins from getting out so I go to bring my car up front to warm up and I see a ticket on my windshield. I was pissed, so I walk up to the cops 2 aisles down giving someone else a ticket for no front plate. BTW, I park facing a grass median, so the cop actually had to get out of his car and walk around it to check if I have a plate. Anyway, I tell the cop that the plate won't fit on without a bracket that I have on order but hasn't come yet and if he wants to check, I have the plate in my car to show him. He just says "Get a trial, tell it to the judge" So I say "Don't you guys have anything better to do than police the parking lot? People are speeding around with no insurance and you're sitting in the parking lot picking on people's cars!" and he says "We get those people too." And I said "Not sitting in a parkling lot you don't." and walked away. The next day, I see the cop by my car again, and I watch him. I see him get out to give me a ticket, and I go out there right away. I told him I just got a ticket for it yesterday, and then realized it was the same *******. I asked him how the hell I'm supposed to get a bracket for it in one day, and he says "Not my problem, get a plate on there" So I get smart, and say "Do you want me to put it in the windshield so you can give me a ticket for improper display? Or tape it on the front so you can give me a ticket cause it could fall off and cause a terrible accident?" So he responds "I'm not a mechanic, figure something out or don't drive the car." By now I'm pissed, I say "I have to drive the car, cause I work 6 days a week. I need to work so I can pay for tickets from people like you who try to meet their quota by harassing me." and he says "This isn't harassment, sir" So I say ", don't tell me you didn't come back here just to give ME a ticket." He says he didn't. I say "If you wanna meet your damn quota, go over to Jewel and watch all the rolling stops. Look! (then I pointed out like 6 rolling stops in a row, which really ticked him off.) He tells me not to tell him how to do his job, so I say "Well if someone is drunk or someone gets in an accident with no insurance, thats gonna cause a lot more problems than if I were to get in an accident with no front plate." Then he started driving away, so that was that. When I called the station, the secretery talked to the officer and said that he had said he was going to let me off on the second one until I got smart with him. But I didn't get smart with him until I knew he wasn't letting me off. He told he he wasn't a mechanic and I had to get a plate on there, then I got smart. Ugh I hate some pigs!

I've run several cars without front plates. The only problem I've ever had is with the State Boys, and they just gave me a warning. They're pretty good around here about no front plates.

the reason you can get a ticket when the car is sitting is because its an equipment violation not an operating violation...

i got a ticket for having no front plate the same time i got my first moving violation. i did a massive burnout leaving the parking lot at my friends high school with the cop right behind me. they had me pulled over at gunpoint in front of the school and kept me there till all the seniors got back from lunch so they could see me.

when i went to court, the judge completly ignored the front plate violation :lala:. but i got a $800 fine for the burnout, 80 hrs communty service and 4 months probation .

then about 6 months later, i got a speeding ticket in the foothills. cop tried to tell me that i was goin 95mph uphill in my v6 . that 2 mi stretch of hill goes from 2000' to 5000'. most v8 cant do that on that road (sr 168 4 lane right before shaver lake). he also gave me a ticket for no front plate.

when i went to court on it, i went to the same judge, who remembered who i was, and again completly ignored the front plate violation :lala:. i went to court in clovis for both tickets and both were before my 18th bday.

ticket

when i got my ticket i told the cop that the bolts were snapped
off and i didnt get around to drilling them out. anyway they wrote me a ticket and told me that if i put my plate on within 10 days have a police officer look at my car and sign the ticket thats its been done that they will drop the ticket. so i had to mail the ticket signed by the cop to them. well that cost 32cents for the stamp. i told the cop even if i have a cop sign this .its still like a ticket cause i have to pay for a stamp. and waste my time looking for a cop to sign it. this world just wants your money. and also your time.

Mount it to the front air dam. Many people do that, you can see it from far away, but from up close it doesn't affect the looks of your ride.

those have dual airbags. It shouldn't be an issue with a thridgen. tons of ricers sick it on the dash and seem to get away with it here.
