Rodends-when quality matters
A personal revue of rodend quality and very hard usage- I abuse my cars daily so the best matters to me. These last ones were a little difficult to come by but an acquantance was generous to help me acquire them- Thank you to that person.
I have new lightweight Moser alloy axles (flanges drilled to reduce rotation mass) coming by the end of next week. The new rodends will go on at the same time. I have one of the Aurora's that has started to knock.

I got two of them for $109 the pair. The sale for much more retail from what I have been told. I paid just shy of $100ea for the Arora's in the picture above.
They are special order only, nobody I checked with stocked them or would bother getting them for me. (Summit, and a few other local QA1 suppliers)

37,000 miles on the new 2.8 in 3 1/2 years so about 1,000 miles per month basically.
Wife drives about 800-900 of that and I beat the sh*t out of it the aprox 100-200miles per month I drive it when I am alone in it.
This car pulls over 1 g and I get on it hard anytime I have free road without other cars around ( I try not to drive like an *** around other cars- takes one unperdicted lane change by someone into me an I'm in prison for life at the speeds I would be buzzing them- I thow it around always when unabated.

So the Q1As only lasted a few thousand miles?! Thats terrible. Do you use any type of lube on them like graphite (looks like 1 may be greased by the fitting)?

Justin, I lubed the PCMR zerks with Mobil1 Synthetic grease
Kat, The QA1 XMR12's are a load rating of 28,081. The XMR12-14 has the larger 55,692 rating but has a 7/8-14 threaded end and not the 3/4-16 end we need. Ps- I thought youmight have seen these already-hint
Jay(dale),???- get some sleep, that tranny swap is getting to you.

Lets keep this thread on topic guys!
I think thats what on my car now, the PCMR. I got it from Spohn 2 years ago. I got a XMR but haven't put it on yet. I put about 600mi/month for comparison. Potholes, pavement trenches and all. Starting to get a knock knock out of it.

I rememeber reading QA1's catalog about them. They are strong! Reason why I said the XMR moslty cause they are teflon lined and wont wear out and they aren't as expensive as the ones you got.

Then again I dont drive my car no where near as hard as you do too. lol
[edit] looked at the catolog again.. Didn;t know you can get them teflon lined too!

The Aurora's on the car now are also teflon lined- hence the "T" in the PRM-12T. They are very good. I have one that is still perfect and the other is slightly knocking. Itf I turn the one that is knocking just slightly cocked to the left or right then the knocking stops, but I am just buying a little more time til it comes back. i don't have massive HP on this car but I do corner and brake very hard so the weight transition is very aburt on them.

Ok, now I’m curious what my spohn parts came with, since they’ve got about 20K miles and about 3 years of actual weather (as in even some salt on the roads) and they aren’t making any noises that I’ve noticed.

If you look at them you can see two black spots on the the one side of the bearing, you got the XM Series. Which are the teflon lined ones that he has been using for a while. Thats about the easiest way to tell.
Also if you look at Dean's pic, the top left pic, the one that is to the left is a close enough one to what we use all the time. The one on the right is a greaseable steel one. Those are the style that wear out quickly.
