SLP's 25lb'ers on my TPI....

Hey guys, just got my SLP injectors yesterday and finally got the car all buttoned up. Runs GREAT.....I thought I would need a custom PROM to run them, because of the flow difference, but it turns out they are "about" 22lb's when run at the L98's stock fuel pressure....instead of the LS1's 58psi. My a/f ratio shows 14.71 right after closed loop on my laptop....so no need for a chip, yet. GREAT deal for $99......

Not true....when I first start the car(even before the new injectors) it would read 13.50 or so. It has been mostly cool mornings around here still. The BLM's are staying right around 122, which is even better than the old injectors when there were NOT bad. The INT stays around 122 also. The article I read says both should be 128 +/- 6 I think.....So, I should be ok.

I'm impressed... I have those same SLP injectors on my e-tec vortec, and it wouldn't even start with the 22# constant in the prom.. (of course, this motor is much different than stock, even after I fixed the injector constant, I still had to make changes to the VE table).. I expected that they wouldn't run very well on a stock engine without computer changes, but blms of 122 are pretty good!!

Also, isn't the afr thats listed on the scantool program the _targeted_ afr?? If I'm not mistaken, theres no way to know whether you are at 13.5 or 13.7 or whatever without a wideband o2.. A targeted afr of 13.5 would make sense on a cold start with the computers cold start enrichment routines...

The afr will stay at 14.7 once in closed loop. Your blms dictate your tuning is off.

Even on a rough setup like mine, big cam, blower I can get the blms dead on at 128 for most of the time.

Don't believe me? Turn your close loop enable up, so it never enters closed loop. your tables are running rich!

TO be honest, I didnt think they would either....but I have a "friend of a friend" that's a GM tech guy. He told me they are about the same when run under the stock 43.5psi fuel pressure. The AFR was checked with a wideband...and the computer held steady right where it should. There was also no instance of the ECM diverting AIR to the manifolds to correct for a rich condition etc. My fuel pressure is at 42psi with the stock regulator and new pump. I have driven it now bout 50miles(25 to work each way)...and no problems yet...

Yeah its a little rich...but within spec. They have never went below 122. Im sure if I made a new PROM I could get it right at 128.....BUT, In about 2mths Ill have my Edelbrock injected 406 in the car...so why bother??? The car runs fine as is....

FWIW, the car with the old injectors(before they were bad) could only get about 124 on both BLM's and INT, except under full throttle of course. The only mods to my car are Accel filters, and 3.5in Mufflex exhaust and Random Tech dual cats....

I just purchased those as well but haven't installed them yet. Are you supposed to use the factory clips to hold the injectors to the fuel rail or can you just slide them right in without the clips?

the factory clips wont work..at least for me...I just slid them in...I dont really see how the would come out....

anesthes, Im using the Edelbrock setup on my 406....it has the Edelbrock DFI that comes with it...and they will custom tailor a PROM based on my cam selection. My dad has the same setup on his 420ci El Camino...and it works really well....Only reason Im using it instead, is he gave me his old one....He went with a bigger setup...

Could somebody give me a part# or a link to these 25lb SLP injectors for $99. I went to SLP's website and all I could find were 36lb ones and at over $300. Thanks

I do believe they've sold out because the link says the part# doesn't exist. I must've purchased the last 8 injectors

They are on backorder occording to the sales-rep I spoke with. I was going to get a set for my Brother-n-Law's L98 vette and she said they are on backorder and didnt know when they would have more in, but assured me they would have more in. I have since bought some SVO injectors from www.fiveomotorsport.com because of my future mods to my motor. PM me if you're interested in the set of SLP's I have....they only have a few miles on them.
