Need Recommendation on new upper strut mounts
Who all has changed these out, and what did you use?
Is there different brands?
What do they cost?
Where did you buy them?
I am in the middle of my suspention rebuild,( New struts,
springs, sway bars ), and after taking the struts out,
I find that one of the bearings is shot, so I want to
replace both while I've got it tore down this far.
Thanks for any suggestions you may have

I have the Ground Control Caster/Camber adj plates.
They increase your travel on lowered cars and re-use your sheetmetal upper strut mount housings, but eliminate the rubber biscuit and you get more adjustability.

Also, Spohn is now selling sweet billet upper mounts, but they're not cheap.:

yes, the spohn/alloy mounts are TOP notch. if have the extra money to get them, they are very well worth it.
bearing plates
When I replaced mine, I had to grind the old bearing plate nuts off because they wouldn't back out. I got some more of the bearing plates at the yard for $10. I also used an impact for the middle strut nut. Once all is unbolted they lifted right off and the struts traveled up since nothing was holding them on the top anymore. When I put the new ones on I could push the strut right down, then I just put the nuts back on. I was amazed that the struts were so easy to push down, I guess they are supposed to be sinced mine are tpis and they aren't but a couple years old

think about how fast the spring is moving when you hit a bump at 70mph. its purpose is to control the spring, not act as a spring. Joined: Jun 2002

When I bought my KYB struts and installed them I noticed the factory nut that attaches the strut to the plate had a camfer on it's bottom to positively locate it but the KYB had a flat nut that allowed some movement in the mount. Anyone else had a similar experience with aftermarket struts? Did any of the aftermarket plates come with strut hardware, or are they tighter around the top of the strut bolt?

Thanks for all the high dollar input, but I'm looking for your basic replacement parts!
Unlike the rest of you replying on this subject,I don't have $350.00+ to get my struts back in.
Is there a preferred brand under a $100.00 each, that people are using, or is everyone here into the high dollar stuff?
Don't get me wrong, I think the alloy pieces look super, just a little out of my budget at this time
