Another little mod, cut/bend the brace that bolts to the fender/frame.The bottle is in the way.

I dont see why not ,as far a space goes there's room. The install would be like a mirror image from the pass side(my guess). On my car the C.C. vacum reserve is there. So it would have to be moved.Whereas the batt tray had nothing mounted under it.I say its worth a shot to try.

oh yeah, the power orb! i forgot..... damn. that thing can go anywhere. what i am most worried about is the hard line built into the tray. it will be exiting toward the fender, might have to get some use out of that pipe bender my dad has in the garage.

just an idea for the tpi guys.
if that rad overflow would fit on the driver side it could be used as the washer fluid tank.
but its just an idea

oh... hey yeah.
as long as its an 90? or befor cause in 90? the washer reservoirs started using pumps on them instead of pumps on the windshield wiper motor.

well on my maro, when i bought it the pump on the side of the tank died and the previous owner installed an in line pump, which worked well. maybe its a solution to the pump being installed on the tank.

I tried to install a 4th gen washer tank a while back and it would not fit on my 90 camaro. The reason it won't fit is the plastic shields that duct the air from behind the driving lights and the large plastic shield that routes the air from below the car to the radiator also was in the way. If you wanted to remove these parts then it would fit fine.

yeah i don't think it fits the TPI cars from what i can tell unless you do some kind of CAI instead of using the stock airbox. It's a good idea especially since I'm going Turbo and the engine bay will already be full. So thanks for the inspiration!.

i was actually considering a setup similiar to Willie and i believe his sn is 89JYturbo with the intercoolers on the bottom of the car instead of the front. I just have to wait until i finish my engine before I start thinking about stuff like that.

your car does have an electric washer pump. it is inside the unit on your firewall that moves the windshield wipers. it draws from that hose and then sprays it out. di you think gravity did that?
my 86 was the same way, but that pump went out so i replaced it with the 92 bottle. (having a pump at the water source provides more water pressure)

well.....
my 86 has a completly different support system for the bumper, the whole thing interfears with the bottle, no amount of bending will make it fit. normally i would give up and just use the working system i have now... but since i am going to the junkyard anyway i am going to look at the stuff there and see if i can kitbash anything together. still doing the coolent thing though!

does it hum when you use it? it my be different for 87s
here is a photo of the bracket in my 86. while trying to fit it on there i made a braket out of cardboard and removed the un-ngled straight up and down part and it fit, but then it would loose too much strengh, so i am not going to do that...

other then the one on my car i have never even seen the kinds other thirdgens use, so this junkyard trip will be a "fact finding" as well as part finding trip.
in addition to this stuff i
am also seeking:
turn signal swith from inside steering column
wiper delay switch from inside column
screw for the rearview mirror
aluminum driveshaft (yeah right)
retainer clips for the i pillar plastic
rally style guage face
and of course anything else worth taking
i will snap photos of all the different kinds of brackets i see. the yards i go to do not allow cameras, but my phone has a dam nice camera, and they will never know

well i got it. no modifiacation to the tank is required if you put it on a firebird. there is however alot of modification required to the firebird. here is the finished job.
also, a camaro bracket wont work, the maro hood spring is on the oposite side as a firebird hood spring.

there were alot of modifications involved. for a full write up visit my website.

zip ties. full write up with lots of photos on my webpage. here is one of the bottle in before the plate was removed. before anyone jumps in about the wealding on the bracket I KNOW. IT'S THE WORST EVER! i realised later that the round stock i "wealded" to the bracket was aluminum steel alloy.
i will be replacing the bracket.<A HREF="http://home.comcast.net/~xophertony/IMAGES/bottleinplace.jpg">

yeah, you may have to remove the cover to fill the bottle (wich apears to be way easyer on camaros by the way, on the fb it is part of the bumper support structure and with the bottle in is almost imposable to remove) but you will only havto do it a few times a year.
you know whats goofy though? the raised section on the drivers side of the bottle that mirrors the side with the lid. it will never get water it it yet it is part of the reservoir
, had they made it just an extended mounting point (a smaller section reaching the same height, yet not hollow) they could have saved a bit of money.
well i am still waiting on my coolant bottle. once i finish mine this thread will have a full spectrum of info. we will have covered instilations in both camaros and firebirds. and the coolant reservoir on both drivers and passanger side. makes me feel kinda speacial.

Here's the coolant tank.. I still need to clean up and paint the brackets. Now if I can just get the engine bay painted and get the LS1 that goes with these, I'll be set.

Real nice. How much higher will the batt be.Does it clear everything it did before? That was my one concern for mounting mine under the stock tray..Wish i was getting an LS1

It's about 2" higher. The battery is a little bit lower than the radiator support, everything clears fine. Of course I had to cut a funky shape in the tray, cut half the fender brace off, and drill and tap two holes to mount it.
Thanks for the work on this.

You can see the two small rectangular brackets I bolted to the radiator support sides. The holes in the brackets allow the stock push-pins to be used. The V portion of the middle bracket holds the bottom in place tight. It does sit lower and a little to the left (to line up with a low part in the top plate and let the pump clear the middle bracket)

how much did you guys pay for the 2 bottles? I've been looking on message boards and everyone is wanting like $70! I'm sure i can get them cheaper at a local yard but geez people say they cost alot to ship.
