Wow, so people I know will be there, Hehehe. Usually I know people they just have us park forever away from each other and I never see them. I will be there though. 3rd year for me. Hopefully, 3 is lucky for me.
We all need to get together and hang out.

Think about the type of people who normally post on this site. They give us a hard time about our mods. An you know that our cars are mild compared to most cars at NOPI. It does not surprise me at all.

Domestic last year were pretty numerous. Over 100.
Maros and Birds...The 4th gens out number the 3rd gens...uh 3 to 1, but there were some. I think we counted around 10 all total. (3rd gens) I showed in the Mild class and there were 25-27 entries I think, both years. I was 5th both years. All years Maro and Bird. Not sure how many in Conserative or Wild though.
Thats good for a NOPI show.

Hard call. Going by pics on you web page... Now this is by NOPI standards. They think my car is still stock...
You have not done that much to the body outside of the rims and tires and spoiler/wing. Performance mods are minimal, but then there is the nitrous. But you do have a pretty serious stereo set up, moniters and all. Is your sub enclosure covered now? Then you have trimed the interior in teal...
My guess is that overall they are going to want you in the Stock/Conservative class. I went into mild my first year out and was told I had not done enough to the body to warrent being in that class. That I would have won if I had been in the conservative class. You really are sitting on the edge of mild & conservative though...Its the wing and stereo that have me puzzled.
Oh, what does your engine bay look like? Colored looms/hoses? What about polishing or chrome?

I think you would probably be in the stock class, but barely. I would definately have someone at the show look at the car to be sure.

What class were you in last year? How did you do? I probably saw your car. We ran thru to try and spot all the fbodies.

Hey flynlow. I noticed you posted today. Does that mean you aren't coming up for NOPI?
What about the rest of you? Still coming? Just want to know who to look for!

That sux. I wish I would have known about the hotel situation. I might have been able to find someone who could have put you up. I did not know you were that young till the under 20 thread. I so wanted to see your car in person. Who knows maybe we will be down your way before NOPI next year.

We will see if they screw me over for a 3rd year in a row or if I have finally put in my dues and win something! I will let you know Sun or Mon!
I'm hoping to get to go on the track today and drive around, but the dork on the phone was clueless about where they are doing it or not. Oh well I will see after work. If so I brought eh video camera. So someone is going to have to tell me how to go from VHS to digital and get it online. Hey maybe I can get in some Footage for Adams video!

Be glad you did not waste your $ and time on NOPI!
[Rant]
1)We head over to the track at about 8:30-9am. We get in the insane line. It was backed out on to the local hwy. The line had to be 3miles long. And tehre was another line snaking thru the speedway as well. Lord only knows how many cars were in line at theat time. We sat for a while. I decided since we were barly moving I would clean the car in line. I'm glad I did. We were in line prob till 10:30-11Am.
2)Now we have waited and waited. I go thru the check in and they do not give us all the stuff they are supposed to. We have to go back later and go thru all this crap.
3)We get in and the parking is all screwed up. They have me parking with the Ford Focuses. OK so its not a big deal they have me in the right class via my window sticker. But the Focuses have parked all goofy and there is only one place to park thanks to some Integra illegally parked. He is blocking the area where poeple are to drive thru. So now people are yelling at me because I'm parking where I'm supposed to, but its teh only place that anyone can cruise thru. Now the rules say no cruising, but they convienently forget that. So aI say tough I was told to park in row "S" and I'm parking in row "S". If they don't like it get some one to tow the Integra who is not even registered to be in the show!
4)Now we are frantically trying to unload the car. I see judges in the distance. I figure I have some time. They have to judge 10-12 cars first. Thank goodness we had touched up the car in line. The judge comes over about 15-20 mins later. Now this puts me at having just drove in and gotten parked and set up. Joe and I were still cleaning the tires and dusting off the car. I ask if he can give me another 10 min or so and explained the line and parking.
5)He says no problem he can tell the diff b/w a little road dust and real dirt. I say OK?!? So I begin trying to point out some of the mods I have done. I know to 3rd gen people they are obvious, but to others they miss alot. As I start to tell him things like having converted the headlights, the tailights, that I have strobes and neon...He says no thats ok, we don't judge what bolt ons you have. Huh?!? You don't judge if the car is clean and you don't consider what mods have been done!?! OK, how do you judge? So he walks around the car once briskly. He is maybe at my car for 1 min, including the time talking to me (no joke), and he puts the sticker on it and is done.
Needless to say I'm totally ticked. $75 for that... Unless something monumental happens when I call the Forest Park store around WED(give them a few days to organize). I'm not ever going back, even as a spectator. I will go to NOPI NAts in TN and thats it. They have some people they hire to judge. Its drive thru judging, but it works! They usually have either a group of judges, or one that spends 10 min going over the car. This is crap. Oh, and no, I did not receive a trophy. And that is not why I'm mad, it just helped fuel the fire. [/rant]
Sorry to rant, but wow! Though the weekend was not a total waste. I got one confirmed sponcer and about 3-4 that I submited a proposal to that look promising. I will let you know how it goes!
Oh and I'm not the only one ticked off. I found the section where 99% of the f-bodies were and not a single one of them won or were judged any better than me. NOPI might loose their fbody division!

they are catering to the sport compacts now, be it imports or sunfires/focuses/cavaliers..
we're a dieing breed...almost to th epointwhere they do stupid stuff like what happened to you so that you DONT come back..
its really stupid and i know how you feel but you have to keep your head up cuz thats what matters..

See at any other decently organized show, they would split a class like that into like body styles. *** knows with the $75 entry fee they got the capital. They needed a 3rd gen and 4th gen split. Then Camaro and Firebird for the 4th gens. That would have made the classes more bearable for us all. But you are right they cater to the imports. Heck neons aren't put in with PT Crusiers even though they are the same platform right? I'm sure they screwed the Mustang owners too...
I talked to them about this last year when we were 20 deep in the same class. He said they were going to split it. Well they sure did didn't they. With that many competitors they could go 5-6 deep with trophies. Heck the TA nats does this. They give out 8 to 9 for really large classes and 2-3 for smaller classes. The trophies are generic anyway... Heck they could do what the f-body gathering does. Give out a generic trophy and send a small plaque later with the place and class engraved that you can attach to the trophy.
Anyway I will call Bobby, some whopdeedo at NOPI. Like I said if he can't do something satisfactory, he will lose as many people as I can convince. What I'm gonna do is make him come out and look at the car and tell me what the problem is. The past two years he has said it was this or that so i fix it and it makes no difference, bull crap...

Thanks man! They can't say i don't have guts to keep going. At least they have real judges in TN. I may check into their FL shows as well. As long as they bring in real judges, I do well. Its just when they have NOPI staff do it. I'm sure friends of friends and stuff are they ones winning. Well tomorrow I will call and see if they will do something for me. I will first ask about how they did the judging. Ask him what they look for. See if I can get him to say the wrong thing. I think I have a case for improper judging, I just have to prove the judge did not do what he was supposed to. So if Bobby says he was supposed to judge the car on XYZ and the judge says otherwise then I have them! So thats the plan...

An interesting thing happened at Super Chevy-Montgomery this past weekend...the judge there said he judged the car at NOPI, too, and asked Shannon what she won!!! When she said nothing, he was shocked...he said he gave her a really good score, and that he thought she would have won something, if not the whole class. Apparently the judges turn the score sheets over to NOPI, and NOPI does the final figuring. Sounds very fishy to me. I wouldn't be surprised if they take the list of winners, and run them through the computer to see how much they have spent with NOPI to decide if they win or not.

Thanks for the support. I plan to call Bobby at NOPI still. I'm just working on exactly what angle to take with him. I have been doing well at the TN shows. So I don't exactly want to get black listed by calling yelling and screaming. Though TN is run by an independant judging group.
I have been told before about spreading the wealth around so to speak (regional NOPI shows where I did not place) That they have to give trophies to the kids who come in and spend the $. Well thats fine for a monthly show. Alot of cruise ins operate that way. They pick something that stands out, but it does not get a trophy again that season. But they don't have time to judge. NOPI Nats though...they can't get away with that crap.
Hey IROC2NV. I got a mail that you tried to PM me, but my box was full...I emptied it a bit, but just email me: redraif@yahoo.com

Hey!
I didn't meet you, but I have seen your car around, esp in Riverdale or J-boro. I thought it was cool that I find your car here, since i have never seen all the details.
Regarding NOPI, hopefully they will be able to group all the cars together...we were able to park some of our cars together, but getting around to see all vehicles in the same class is a tad bit difficult. I will see if I can talk to them regarding this matter.
This is my 2nd year showing, and I placed 2nd...
oh, bTw, i pulled up next to you on the way to NOPI that Sunday but you turned early.
I had four more Legends behind me...i am in the red coupe

Oh Jason..you are a funny guy
Haha...
I won't tell how I have shown you the other side of the import world [i.e. non-Civic] power
But yes, Shannon, hope to meet you soon, and I will try to drag this Jagtwo out so we can all meet up. Maybe he will get off this Camaro so I can start playing with it.

Hey Shannon, Please allow me to introduce myself, Dave, Redbird87. I was interested in the regional NOPI in Snellville as I'm trying to finish my 87, It won't be done, new engine ,etc. but would like to meet some 3rd gen as the club here in Atlanta didn't seem interested in me when they found out I've only got the 3rd and not a 4th

We're still planning to get together...anybody have suggestions as far as place/time? BTW Redbird 87, what club did you approach? GAFBA? They're mostly 4th gen, and while ACFA is too they're more open to other generations. I still think there is a need for a 3rd gen only club, though.
