Which seats will fit in my car?
I need a set of front seats for my 84 Trans Am project, but I don't want to spend a fortune on them. I figured I could get a set of seats out of other cars cheaper than I could get a set of Firebird or Camaro seats. All I need is a set of seats that will either bolot right to the existing holes or the existing seat tracks will bolt right to the seats. Remember, this car is going to be fixed and sold, so it doesn't matter if they look right, just so that they look nice. Thanks!

Yeah, I saw that. Does anybody else know of any seats? I'm a big guy (6'5", 260lbs), so I need a wide seat. Also, I want to put these seats into my 76 Trans Am when I get ready to sell the 84 Trans Am, so they need to be a little bigger so they don't look out of place.
grandam is an "n-body". not all n-bodies had front buckets, but many did.

What's An N-Body?
The Basics
"N-Body" is General Motors designation for the platform that GM vehicles such as the Chevrolet Malibu, Oldsmobile Alero and Pontiac Grand Am are built upon. Although these vehicles look very different from the outside, the drivetrain and body structure are essentially identical. GM shares its various platforms with all its product lines. For example, the Chevrolet Cavalier and Pontiac Sunfire are built on the J-Body platform at the Lordstown Assembly Plant in Ohio. Likewise, the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird are built on the F-Body platform at the St. Therese, Quebec plant.
GM has used the N-Body platform since 1985, and since then many different makes and models of GM vehicles have been built on it, including the Buick Skylark & Somerset, Chevrolet Malibu, Oldsmobile Achieva, Alero, Calais & Cutlass and the Pontiac Grand Am. These vehicles have sold under many different trim levels with several engine options, from a 2.0L Turbo 4-Cylinder up to the current 3.4L V6.

2vmodular, I thought I must be the only person on here that liked crown vics! Those cars are awsome - if you are gonna go full size, go Crown Victoria! I second the link to www.crownvic.net as it seems to be a good site IMO.

Seats
About a year ago I put a set of 4th gen seats (front and rear) in my 1987 IROC. They were out of a 1998 Bird. I am 6'4" and about 260 and they fit great and have greater support. They are a direct bolt in and theonly modification I had to make was to cut the seat belt support to slide the seat belt in. After it was bolted back on it is not noticable.

I thought the Grand Am was a G-Body along with the Grand Prix. I defiantly know the Grand Prix is a G-Body...
My mom has a 99 Malibu, does it have anything to do with the Chevelle Malibu or anything, I have always wondered. As far as the MAlibu seats, I don't think they are all that, but OK.

Grand Am is a smaller car, its only slightly larger than a sun-fire. Until lately when they got a little bigger.

I had '87 Grand Am SE buckets in my '89 RS and they fit perfectly. Just changed the seat brackets. They were comfy on long rides!

it does not surprise me that several different cars will have interchangable seats. Back in 67, my Riviera uses the same exact bucket seat as the Camaro & firebird, the only difference might be the pattern on the vinyl. The reason I know is my headrests are interchangable with camaros
