Fiberglassing

How hard would it be to fiberglass a sub box, since i am no carpenter? I was thinking of putting it in the spare tire area, or maybe in the well. If anyone worked with fiberglass before let me know what it is like and what i would be getting myself into.

well, the hardest part of fiberglassing for me was making the frame or skeleton of the enclosure. after that, you shouldnt have too many problems.

Also follow my sig, go to the stereo link and at the bottom I have how-to's of how I did everything (minus the sub, I haven't finished that how-to).

fiberglassing isn't hard, just wear some latex gloves and a resperator. fiberglass can do some nasty **** to your lungs and skin. so stay safe and spend an extra $40 :-)

we have made 2 fiberglass boxes one for 2 12's one for4 12's we just laid plastic in the car then fiberglassed once the mold is complete use packing peanuts to measure cubic space in box if you need less use some type of fill to make it less if you need more you might consider a sub that fits the spec you have. here are some more pics

But wouldn't makeing a wood box be a lot simpler to learn than fiberglass...with less mess, and cheaper. I mean he's gonna have to buy the resin the cloth, and what not and he's not gonna have it come out perfect the first time. Just what I think....but I do like fiberglass as a medium if you know what you're doing. Also you do need the mold and what not and an easy way of making a mold would be to use wood....just seems to me a wooden box would be a lot cheaper quicker and has an easier learning curve than fiberglassing.

cost may be a little more, but IMO its worth it.

As far as needing a mold, you don't. You use the cars contours to make your mold and then bond a MDF baffle to that to fit the spkr.
