why can't i find a kit for my 86 iroc?

i may be ignorant, but i can't seem to find a S/C kit for my iroc. Its an 86 305 tpi. They're all for 88-92, that i can see.

Also, how hard is it to get headers to fit?

I'm just looking around, and both the prochargers and the vortech kits look complete. The motor is all stock, and before I do anything like this I will have basic mods (headers exhaust AFPR)
I know I'll need a chip, and bigger injectors. maybe 19#. I'm really new to this arena of power adding, so any help would be appreciated.

Basically, I would like to get an idea for how feasable this type of thing is. How hard would a SC be on my engine? I've heard that it would greatly decrease the life of my 305. I think that without getting too much into the internals of the motor, this would be the way I'd want to get power. Any opinions?

Thanks

since only the 85-87 TPI cars used your specific accesory arrangement, paxton and vortech quit producing the kit for them. there are still some warehouses that have them "new old stock". try Ebay. the other option is to switch to 88-92 accesories and bracket on the front of your engine. check with a company called ASSC they may have something for you.

a chip is not required. as a matter of fact the first instruction for supercharging in the book is to remove all aftermarket chips and programming. if you are only going with about a 8-10 psi kit then bigger injectors are not really required but i recommend getting some newer ones to prevent sad situations (ford motorsport 24#) are nearly the same flow wise, and are abetter built injector to replace your possibly older leaking or clogged ones

Cool, thanks man. And header clearance isn't a problem? I was either going with Edelbrock TES headers or the SLP's, flowmaster 80 series 3" catback. I probly would want to do sometihng for traction, since i have a non-posi 3.08 right now.

I have a set of the 1 3/4 SLP's and the spark plug clearance SUX. the edelbrocks are ok but the 1 5/8 slp I dont know how they are, no experience with them.
