GM Nationals in Carlisle PA
I posted this on the appearance board but in case you never make it over there...
I was wondering who all would be going to the GM Nationals and Camaro show in Carlisle PA on June 14th- 16th. Was also wondering what your plans were gonna be.
I am definitely going but trying to figure out the details. I wanted to go up Friday night but I have to go to step-brothers graduation at the Capital Center I believe it is. So driving up late might not be a good idea. So would anyone want to meet up somewhere on Saturday morning to ride up? Or maybe we can all just meet up there at the show somehow.
As you can see my plan is oh so well thought out. Lol j/k Just wondering... It would be cool to have a lot of TGOers there.

I am also going and I agree with you. I have to go up on saturday because I work in va. and live in md. You know how friday nights are trying to leave that area. I am putting my car in the shop tomorrow to get some body work fixed so I wont embarress myself to bad at the nationals. I have been working on this car in my spare time for two years and sunday was the first time I drove it. I've done all the work myself and I have been usingg the nationals as motivation. It would be great if we could get a group of people to drive up on saturday

where to get the work done
I am getting the work done at Brady's Body shop.
He is located in Oella, which is between catonsville and ellicott city. The address is 418 Oella Ave and the number is 410-465-7990. He does very good work and he is into car restoration. He has been there about 30 years. When I first started working on my firebird I went to all of the area shops and the people over at colemen brothers told me about him. He was the only person to tell me to do all of the engine work before I did any body work. I am dropping the car off at 5:30 this afternoon.
I think I am going to enter the car in the part of the show where you dont get judged. I was there last year and I was talking to some people about my restoration project and the fact that I paid $250 for the car. They suggested that I bring it this year and show it and document the progress to encourage other people to do the same thing.

Cool.. I might have to look into him. My camaro was hit in the drivers side door a few months back. I had a place that was suppose to be really good fix it but I wasnt very happy with the results. This was suppose to be a shop that was guaranteed. I need to go back to the other guys insurance company and complain about it. But I would tell them I would go back to the same shop.
I am setting a goal to enter my car next year. Its been years since I have shown my car. Now I am trying to get it back up to that quality.
Are that guys prices fair? The one shop quoted me 350 to straighten out my fender.

I think his prices are okay for what he does. He told me that he will give me a couple of different options and I can pick the one that best suits my pocket. He is an older man and he does almost all the work himself. He oversee's what he doesn't actually do. He is really into restoration and even his touch-up paint is better than a full maco paint job

I won't know till Friday most likely if I'm going. I start a new job tomorrow, so I'm not sure if I can get off. I'm not at all familiar with the place, so I don't know where to meet.

I am not famaliar with the area either... there is member on the board that lives in Carlisle. He might know. His member name is Brett Gutshall. Check the Appearance board. I bumped the Carlisle post to the top and will ask Brett if there are any good places to meet up around there.
this will be my first time going to carlisle, too, so i don't know where to meet. if a site is decided on, please post ASAP. i will check it while im on my way out the door. maybe a better idea is to meet somewhere around here and caravan up there. i don't know about you guys, but im leaving on sat. morning. i was told by a friend that in order to avoid making a 2 hour trip into a 4 hour trip, its best to leave early, very early. if anyone is going on sat. morning let me know. ill shut up now.

I will be there, but I am heading up on thursday, I am going with Steve86TA who rented out a spot in the parts midway. It will be my first time going there, so I have no clue as far as how it is setup, does anyone know the terrain or how it is organized??

I not sure, but check out www.carsatcarlisle.com I think that's the site.
I had planned on leaving at 5am or so, cause I had planned on being in the show, though now I don't think I can afford the extra $30.

Mark, where do you live in MD? i planned on leaving at about the same time. i live near Ft. Meade, about 15 miles south of B-More. maybe we could cruise up there together with anyone else who wants to meet. maybe those of us leaving on sat. morning could meet at one of the rest stops on the way. just an idea.
