85 TA RPO codes, Canadian dash?

My first post to thridgen! I have a 1985 TA I bought in 1989. Here are some questions I have about the car.

1. The fuel gauge does NOT have "unleaded fuel only" on it.
The temp reads "40 105 125" which I think is C and converts to "104 221 257" F. The oil pressure reads "0 200 400" which I think is kilopascals and converts to "0 29 58" psi. RPO code Z49 reads canadian export. I think this car either was supposed to go to Canada and didn't make it or came back. The speedometer is normal with MPH outer ring and KPH inner ring. I'm thinking the speedometer might have been replaced. Anyone else see anything like this?
Z49 : EXPORT, CANADIAN MODIF MANDATORY BASE EOUIP

2. Any idea what a "spring, computer selected" is?
6ZW : SPRING, COMPUTER SELECTED, FRONT, LEFT HAND

It had 13K when I bought it. It now has 98K. Its been a great car. Decoding the RPOs and reading some posts really gave me alot of insight into the car. I'll try to post some pictures.

1. Sounds Canadian to me. The water temp is in Celcius and the oil pressure is in kilopascals.

2. All thirdgens had "computer selected" springs. The computer would look at the options being installed on the car and decide which springs should be used to get the correct right height and handling for the weight of the car.

I have an 84 Recaro that was sold in Canada. It has the Z49 also. As for your speedo--maybe a change of plans was made in the final assembly. If the speedo was changed at a later date you should be able to tell if you look carefully at the attaching hardware. Tools do leave marks!

As for the mystery RPOs, here's the scoop:

D6F -- Never heard of this. Are you sure it's not D68 which is Outside Remote Sport Mirrors? (D codes deal mostly with things like mirrors, decals, stripes, sunshades, consoles, spoilers, etc.)
D60 -- Trim Incompatability Override (Don't know exactly what this applies to. I have it also.)
E7Z -- Speedo Gear (Depends on tranny, axles ratios, etc. Mine is E5Z.)
MX0 -- Merchandising Option (A code that the factory used to identify certain option groups I think.)
NOD -- Never heard of this one and can't find any info in all my TA stuff. Are you sure it isn't NO9 which is Locking Fuel Filler Door?
QAC -- This will be the tire size. My Recaro is QYZ (215/65R15) and my 15th Ann. is QDZ (245/50R16)
WU5 -- Credit in lieu of Fuel
W82 -- Canada Billing - Extra Fuel
Z31 -- Advance Price Sheet (Cost a total of $.50!!)
190 -- This is a color code. 19 is GM black and the 3rd digit/letter refers to the specific body part. I'm not sure is yours is "O" or "Zero", as it does make a difference.

I just checked my Firebird ID Numbers catalog again and found the following:

MXO -- Transmission, Automatic, 4-Speed w/Torque Converter Clutch. Does this sound right for your car?
QAC -- Should be 235/60VR15 Steel-Belted Blackwalls. (I found this under 1986 codes)

Here is an update on the RPOs:

D6F - I double checked. This is on the sticker.

MXO -- Transmission, Automatic, 4-Speed w/Torque Converter Clutch. Does this sound right for your car?
QAC -- Should be 235/60VR15 Steel-Belted Blackwalls. (I found this under 1986 codes)

Correct on both. I have an auto 4-speed and the car came with 235/60/VR15 Blackwalls (Goodyear Eagles).

190 - I was wrong. This is really 19Q:

19Q : MOLDING COLOR (BLACK)

N (letter O) D: Correct for Norwood.
N (zero) D: Not on sticker. I put both in since I didn't know the middle character.

All of the other codes filled in on the replies are correct for the car.
Thanks for all the information!

Does having a Canadian car mean any added/deleted emmisions equipment? Any other added/deleted features?

Hey there, TransAm1985 -- sweet looking wheels you have.
NOR makes sense for Norwood. Silly me for not thinking of it. The RPO sheets had either NOR or VAN (Van Nuys plant). Your VIN will confirm this if it really is the case -- 11th digit should be N.
As for Canadian differences, I can only speak for the two 84s that I have. My Recaro was sold in Canada and my 15th was sold in the US. Both have identical powertrains and equipment and the same emissions sticker on the rad shroud (XJS). I do see in my GM parts books, however, that in certain sections such as carbs and emissions there are a few parts such as fuel evaporation canisters listed as "Export/Canada" for certain engines such as the 305H. (Both of my cars have the H.O. 305G L69 which seem to not be differentiated between countries.) What engine do you have? I can check and see what specific things an '85 powerplant might have if it were Canadian.

Thanks. The engine is a 5.0L TPI V8. I decided I wanted the TPI engine at the expense of getting a manual transmission. The manual only came with the carburated engine. The TPI auto was also easier to find since I was buying used.
