Just Fried my amp and speakers.
My car now has no bass at all. I had a Boss 455 amp and the cerwin hed10s. From reasearching I might of found why it fried. Well I was showing off like I have always done. But you know those two wires on the back of the speaker that go into the back of the speaker cone? Well they might have been too long because when I look at them they both were electrically welded together. Well this cant be good. Inside the amp there are two little I dont know transistors or something but they are burn lightly. This has got me wondering about cerwins car audio quality.

ur problem wasnt that they were too long, it was that they touched. its similar to touching the two sides of a house outlet. thats also why you fried your amp.
suggestion: get it done by a professional next time, and buy a better amp. boss amps goes downhill fast.

Maybe they wernt to long but they sure are to close together. Can you take you disconnect you speaker, take it out and physically touch those two wires together? Can anybody do this with their speakers?

Ok if you look at the back of you speaker you see the two connections positive and negative. This is where you would hook you speaker wire up. Now let say if you dont hook up the speaker wire lets take idea. Ok now from those positive and negative connection there are two wires that go into the back of the cone. These are the two that touched.

I cant belive its a Cerwin Vega! The RE12 I have as a home audio setup have been working for years and are the best floor speakers I can have. Man they are loud! But I think thats what they do home audio and not so much car audio.

i think you r a little too worried about looks and not enough about performance. if u want loud, go to a sound off competition and see whos the loudest and what they are running. try to avoid the boss amps because they have high distortion. vegas are decent but best at lower volumes. they have potential to hit pretty hard at the high volumes, but its often distorted and they wont last long at those levels.
