I know that some here in the cascade crew where close to him and now he is gone.

please I am posting this not to make some flame war but for those of you who do know him to give your condolances.

here is some info as to what happened as well as links to two other post about the situation

Sheesh, that's pretty messed up. But then again, there is a reason why Firebirds, Camaros, Mustangs and Corvettes are the most dangerous cars in the world. I feel sorry for their parents and relatives, excessive speeding is never a good thing.

Thanos (GTA Paladin) was an enthusiastic 19 year old who had just joined the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a guy whose love of life was evident to all who knew him--a typical Greek. He loved family and planned on having 5 or 6 kids of his own.

I only met him once but he made a favourable impression on everyone in our Calgary 3rd Gen Camaro Club. For 19 he was a physically big man, with a big heart to match.

We'll miss him intensely ;(

I also did not know him but it is very sad when a tragedy like this happens. The only good thing is that they didn't hit another car and take more lives with them. My deepest condolences go with anyone and everyone who knew him.

this is not fair, at all. sure, life may not be fair, but no one deserves do die so young.

I think there is a lesson that can be learned here. no one is sure exactly when they are going to die. any one of us could die tomorrow. how many of us work a job we hate, or are in a relationship we do not like? how many of us have passed up an opertunity? life is way too short not to live it, so whatever you do do not take it for granted, not this day or the next.

i feel guilty in a way. not because i think that i had something to do with his death, but because i had him on on my messanger list and never talked to him. i took it for granted that i could talk to him whenever i wanted and not i cannot.

this may sound a but blunt for some of us, but i'll say it anyhow. any one of us could be next, any of our family or friends could die any time. and to quote a line from a stonesour track "because in the end everything we do, is just everything we've done" what we do in life is how we are remembered.

eventually we all will be nothing more than a rotting courpse in a big box, some pictures and a few fond memories in the minds of people who will meet the same fate.

keep it in mind

19 years is too damn early to die....
A friend of the victims who was among the last to see them alive said they loved speed.

My condolences to all of his friends/family/crewmembers.

I know the exact feeling that you all must be going through. A little more than a month ago, I lost my friend to a shockingly similar accident. He was driving his '97 cobra way too fast through a residential area less than a mile from his home after drinking. He was 19 and is missed.

Is that his first name???

Is 'Thanos' his first name??? My mother's maiden name is Thanos, I have a Greek crest tattooed on my shoulder with my mothers maiden name tattooed below it. I have lived in Hawaii my entire life, but was born in Baltimore MD, I hope he's not an unknown member of my family ( east coast immigrant families are very large ) I hope that was not his first name, it means Death in Greek.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated. I would really like to know his full name and place of former residence.

GTA PAlADIN aka THANOS

Man i feel really bad about what has happened...its such a shame that such a young person can die....the thought that he was the same age as me and shared the same interests makes me appreciate life much more....i too would speed around in my 3rd gen and have a "fun" time....not too much fun now that the consequences are revealed....i propose that there should be a meet in a parking lot somewhere in memore of THANOS's short life.....in honor of a military solute (the twenty one shots of silence) i propose that there should be twenty one f bodies in a parking lot all lined up and each should burn their tires out for 19 seconds one second for each year of his short life....the cascade crew should be involved and should be video taped and posted on this site....just a proposal but seems very fitting beings he loved cars especially third gens....FAREWELL THANOS EVEN THOUGH I DIDNT PERSONALLY KNOW YOU I FEEL THE LOSS YOUR MEMORY IS ALIVE IN EVERY THIRDGEN ON THIS BOARD AND THE ROAD........

At least he died loving what he does. How many people die each day in a hospital from a long term illness, or a victim of street violence?

live by the sword die by the sword. I'm sure he's burning up the clouds in heaven

I didnt really know Thanos, but he may have indirectly saved my life and the lives of many others. I am 13 years old, and i have a 1987 camaro Z28. I always pictured myself going down the streets at rather high rates of speed, but i think this has definetly showed me that its not worth the risk just to look cool. My friends and i always talk about how we are going to street race when we are 16 and everything. Now we talk about what TRACK we are going to race at, instead of which ROAD. Its scary to me to think that my car could look like his, and i could end up like him. although may have died doing what he loved, it's still not worth leaving this world at only 19.*~*~ R.I.P.*~*~

My condolences go out to his family/friends, as well as the family/friends of the two others that we brought to the race track in the sky that night. R.I.P.

Wake Up Call

Everyone needs their own wake up call....its just too bad that we have to lose a friend such as Thanos to realize the irresponsibility that is high speed driving....although I live, eat, breathe and **** speed its just not worth the risk to me anymore...Ill save the high speeds to where it belongs...on the track...sure ill probably find myself breaking the speed limits from time to time but who doesnt...im just gonna do it in moderation...no more 65 in 35's and so forth....just for the record anyway my Camaro was running my pocket thin in not just the gas economy but also the insurance (250 a month, damn NJ for having the highest insurance rates) and my Camaro has made its departure from my ownership ....But im happy to announce that a fellow third gen lover has taken the responsibility of my Camaro...He posts on this board under the name CAYSE and recently his 84 Camaro SC was in an accident....and i noticed that on these boards...so im happy that my third gen will go to someone who will not only give it the TLC that i couldnt afford but will also go to save the soul of another thirdgen and not just end up rusting in the junkyard....ah the love through out these boards....thats why things like Thanos's early departure was not in vain...he made us realize that not only thirdgens are cool looking and driving but also brought together a group of enthusiasts like no other car could....except for the big brother....The Vette...but none of the less i wish his family and friends the best in dealing with this tragedy...my heart pours out from the bottom of my very soul...but let us live through his memory and show everyone what us thirdgen enthusiasts are....more than just friends....but in a way....WERE ALL JUST DISTANT RELATIVES...*** BLESS THANOS AND MAY HE REST IN PEACE AMONG OTHERS WHO LIVED FOR THE LOVE AND PAID THE ULTIMATE PRICE....SAY HI TO DALE EARNHARDT SR FOR ME....AND WHEN I GET THERE I WANNA KNOW WHO ONE THE RACE YOU OR SR....PALIDIN GTA aka THANOS YOUR MEMORY IS ONE FOR THE BOOKS...LET US CONTINUE THE STORY FROM HERE....FAREWELL WE'LL SEE YOU AND YOUR IMPRESSIVE TIRE MARKS UP THERE WHEN ITS OUR TURN....

GTA-Paladin and I had been IMing each other for the past several months. I didn't realize the reason for his sudden silence until this thread.

Paladin was an enthusiastic guy, helpful and very knowledgeable.

he served his country well and his passing is a tragic loss.

RIP Thanos.

I can only hope that Thanos didn't die in vain,

If this has prompted one driver to use a little more caution, and prevent another tragedy, then we have moved in the right direction.

why does it take something like this to make us think about our own safety

My deepest condolances go to the family and friends of Thanos, R.I.P.

Thano Tsivos

I can not tell you how many nights I have stayed awake looking for something like this, only not to find it until three years later- So here I am sitting on my computer, where Thano use to live with me, crying and trying to be strong. Three years tomorrow- and still never forgotten... I knew Thano had friends' But I don't think anyone was aware of how many people actually loved him- like all of you who cared. I don't know if anyone will ever read this post- but I would like to say Thank-you on behalf of Thano's family, I am his cousin- whom he lived with until he left for the Navy in BC. I am touched with all of your kind words and hearts-
Thank you, it means a lot to me-
And to him
If you want more info on anything or where you could visit his grave site- contact me at leah-marie@hotmail.com.
Thanks everyone,
It means so much…
ps: I am sorry if I have offended anyone by using his name on here, I thought i might get some attention.

even though it is 3 years later I'm sure the pain is still there. I lost my nephew july 2nd of last year and it is still hard for me to live with. and unfortunantly gta-paladin wasn't the only one we lost here either on these boards.
most the members on this board it seems even if we are not close are kinda like a family of sorts. we all love our cars and want to help others. through this place we have formed some bonds along the way. I know of a few here who liked him a lot and miss him also. I don't really know what to say as I'm not good at this stuff but I must say at least that I honestly wish you guys the best and I hope things are going ok.

either way though even though I didn't know him very well he is still part of the TGO family.

he will always be remembered

Wow, I'm glad I saw this post and can be one of the first to respond this time around. It is now 12AM here in Milwaukee, so I guess it has technically been 3 years now. I just want to say that I never met him, and probably never even talked to him on these boards as I believe I wasn't quite a member yet. Either way, I'd like to offer my condolences, for what they are worth 3 years later. I may not have known him, but from what I've heard, he was certainly well-liked, and its a shame whenever stuff like this happens.

I hope you fare well, and R.I.P. Thanos, fallen sailor and member of these boards.

This is a terrible, terrible tragedy. It breaks my heart to see anybody lose their life, and family/friends lose their loved ones. Especially one of our fbody brothers. I think stories like these bring up the painful question that maybe kids this young shouldn't be allowed to drive cars like ours. Maybe they can adapt some age/HP regulations and help reduce the number of these tragedies from happening. ANY car can kill you if driven irresponsibly but with 300 plus HPs on tap the odds of such events goes up exponetially! Especially when this power is coupled with youthful bravado, its a recipe for disaster! It happens all the time. Heck, my engine was pulled out of a rolled over camaro! I know this may offend some of our younger members but the reality is that at this age the level of maturity and responsibilty is nowhere near where it needs to be! We all were there, its scary when I look back. These kids did nothing wrong, they were just being kids. Unfortunately thats the problem, and I hate to see it. RIP

I didn't know him, but I remember this thread like it was yesterday. I can honestly say my driving habits have been altered over the last three years by this story. I had friends get really badly hurt in high school many years ago in the same way, but I guess because I am older and realize how much one death can impact so many others, reading this made me step back and re-evaluate some of the things I was doing. I'm sure his story had the same effect on many others. Probably even saved some other's lives. He must have been a pretty decent person to have so many people miss him so much.
